Bit Char-G Display Models

I was wondering what you think of my next project: I'm gonna take a Skyline R34 GTR or the standard R34, make a tiny little model engine for it, open the hood, have a detailed interior kit, A custom chassis with Dub-City wheels, body kit, then If I get really involved in it, I might add: Opening doors, opening trunk, adjustible rear wing, screen-covered air vents, roll-cage. Since it will not be a running chassis (i.e. no electronics/ motor/ steering/ etc.) I can lower it as much as I want, depending on how wide I want to make the chassis. I also may try this with a Honda accord, so I can make a touring car. any thoughts or ideas? I will post pics as soon as I can find my skyline body, then buy all the parts I need with my limited funds.

DO one With clear hood

Make one with clear hood u can open it to display.
And even when closed the hood is partially clear so u can see what it got "under the hood" LOL

Damn i wann do dat lol. But i cant figure a way to cut the plastic that precize not to damage the hood......

Go tiny u da man !!!! i wanan see it !!!!!

I was already planning on having either an opening or removable hood to get a better view of the engine. My prototype (before I start on the GTR will be my LXX red supra, which I will try to do from materials around the house because I need a little more money to go out and buy the parts. I may also dremel out the front grill, and replace it with a piece of fine mesh screen. I'm also thinking of making a futuristic concept car which will look something like a Delorean (Back to the Future) or a toyota Sprinter, but with a rear mounted engine, because I want to try my hand at making vertically mounted engines (Enzo type) Posted below is a picture of a sample engine, but it is done in paint so it is not the best quality, and it is based on mental referances. I also agree with you Ice, it is pretty hard to cut off the hoods precisely, I just score it until it is loose enough to pop off with my finger. Thanks for the comment Tiny!

EDIT-I guess the NOS bottle shouldn't be up by the engine, oh well:D :o

what about this engine

Cool, and nice job on the engine. I might use some ideas from it, but not exactly like that.

Oh yeah, yesterday I successfully opened the hood on my silver skyline, so I think I'm good to go on the Supra, or the GTR Skyline.

Hey just wondering,... is the engine out of real plastic or just drawn ?

MicroSpeed 10-30-2003 02:35 PM

The engine will be made of plastic, and will be as detailed as I can make it. Also a question for bit-modders, is there a more secure way to open the hood than rubber bands, because none of my glues (plastic cement, contact cement, CA in varying viscositys) will stick to it without peeling off easily. I know epoxy would probably work, but I wouldn't want to mix up a batch to use just on that, so if I do us it, I will wait until I start on another project. Then again I may just have a removable hood, that would give you a more clear view of the engine. I should be able to start on it this weekend, and I will post updates of any progress I make. Thanks for the comments.

Okay, my test model is on my RX-7, it will be painted sail blue, have a carbon fiber hood, sheet styrene chassis, opening hood, and rims and a seat from a diecast I have.

I was thinking of a similar idea, but instead of making it a display model, I thought of grinding the front bulkhead cover down a bit so that I could take the engine from a muscle machine import, shave it and mount it on top of the bulkhead. If clearance is still a
problem, then I could add a hood scoop.
