WHere can I find the stock FET datasheet?
1 Attachment(s)
Does anyone have the datasheets or know what type of FETs they are?
I had assumed that the ESC is using a H bridge and to stack it, I just need 1 N channel and 1 P channel MOSFET. Since I have quite a few mini-z size FETs lying around, i decided to give it a try with them (see pic). The connections were wired to the legs according to the layout of the tiny FETs (grey=gate, white=source, red/black=drain). It was working OK until I hit reverse. The FETs would then get hot and melt the tape insulation that i cover them with (not in pic) I took out 2 FETs from my old ver1 ESC, but couldn't figure which was N or P. but it seems to work fine at the moment. I know I'm missing somthing here.... Any info will be appreaciated. Thanks :) btw, sorry for the 3 new threads in a row. :p |

This one is inside of mini Z FET. (7389 or 4562)
Enjoy it. |
Many thanks. That helped a lot. i'm still confused as to why no P-channel FETs are needed, but that is not important since I now know that they are both N channel MOSFETs.
I will most likely try the stack with the S0-8 FETs (Mini-Z) again, but will use only the N channels this time. (hope the FETs are not damaged) I will go through the circuit that u posted again to quench my curiosity. I understand the words except for "kalo bener". Is that a name? or does it mean "if true" ? Terima Kasih. :) |
Hahahaaa...glad to help. Keep us know the results. Actually I was just think to replace my irf3004 mini z with IRFZ40.
Yes, you right. "kalo betul" iis "if true". How do you learn it? Sampai jumpa. |
hee hee hee... I'm from Singapore and know malay. :)
In malay, the words "kalo bener" would be spelled and phonetically pronounced as "kalau benar". There are a lot of indonesian words that I don't know, so I just wanted to make sure :D I'm interested in the Mini-Z mod that you're planning to do. Are you going to get P channel fets to complete the H bridge, or are you going to modify the Mini-Z circuit to use N ch FETs only? btw, if u decide to use SO-8 fets, i'd recommend the Si4562DY. It's really punchy. |

I've completed stacking the SO-8 FETs on parallel to the TO-220 FETs. Removing the additional 2 FETs did not solve the runaway car with X-speed problem whihc I posted in the other thread , so I put them back on again and stacked the Mini-Z fets using the information that you had kindly provided.
I didn't have enough FETs of the same kind, so I stacked 3 layers of Si4562DY at the -ve side and 3 layers of IRF7389 on the +ve side. I noticed that the motor now runs cooler (don't know why). The FETs didn't burn my fingers, but I noticed that the tape over the IRF7389 FETs had darkened a little due to heat. That might have happen when the car with X-speed ran away, and was stationary against a wall, and I was slow to retrieve it. It works fine now. I did not notice a significant speed difference, but at least the motor's cooler now. I'm starting to like my Mini-X..... :) |
Congratulation, encik. :D
SInce your FETs running well now, why dont you make a piece of PCB to mount those FETs properly and put the heatsink over them before they got short/damage by the vibration the car. I've been through in that case and my FETs got burnt out. Do you mind to sketch your mod's and post it to here? Anyway, no one sell the 4562 here but some people had them on their Z already. I wish I can put 4x2 on my board. Salam. |
Terima Kasih Bapak :p
I'll dump several more packs just to make sure again before I try my hand at a few image editing programs. I must warn u first that I'm bad at graphics & drawing :D |
Hahahaha....
So I gotta be more patient then. Awak tunggu gambarnya. Thank you. |

Wow. My 7389 FETs that I stacked on the +ve side got hot and melted the tape insulation. The FETs are most likely damaged from the previous incorrect orientation.... but try this mod at your own risk :)
Here's the sketch of the mod. Pins 3,4,5, and 6 of the Mini-Z fet are unused. Pins 7 and 8 and internally shorted, but they can be soldered together anyway. |
Thanks Miketree. You have a nice drawing ;)
CMIIW: The diagram showed that you used half of the FET, right? The one you should know is which one has a bigger ouput; the stock FET or the 7389? I dont have any reliable source to compare them. I think the stock FET has a bigger one, since the 7389 gets hot. In my opinion, stacking the same FETs would be more effecient (considering to the FETs price). But, it was a good experiment that inspired me to do some mods on my Z board, hehehe... Salam, |
