Underlights

OK I figured out a really great way to make under lights and have them look reall nice. If this Idea has been said all rdy I am sorry for the rerun.

For normal every day cars they make a Item called EL Wire. Electro illuminent Wire. its very tiny very flexable wire. The one and only problem is its 12 volt, But this can be worked around. RS sells a very small 12 volt batterie and it will power this wire whout any problems. the only outher minor problem is the wire needs a power converter its a very small coil but it can be fitted under the car chassie its super tight but it works. My self i am going to add disconnect to remove the power converter wen I am not using it. Now I will try to answer some of the questions that will be asked. Yes it does add weight a very minor amount. yes it does need a differant battery to run the under lights it cost 3.99. No i do not know how long it lasts but I had it on for several hours whout the battery running down or the light diming. Any outher questions ask Ill do my best to answer I could post a picture but I do not 100% know that the policy about posting links to pictures on me message board is, and no I did not 100% read the pollicies and procedures wen I joined. Any outher questions ask away if you would like a picture let me know .

I accually cut the invertboard in half and attached 1part of it to sit above the servo and the outher half and the battery is hidden behind the rear bumper. Its millmeters away from being to big. but it all fits the car runs normaly stears normaly and seems to have the same range so my self i would conseder it case closed .

ok so i know where i can get an el kit and one of those 12v batteries, an a23 i belive. its used for remots on cars for like keyless entry and alarms. anyways so what do i do just gut the parts from inside the black control box or what?

Firepony 10-24-2003 03:43 AM

thats what i did i cracked open the little black box and used hot glue to insulate the connecter on the bottom of the board so they do not short on any thing. also i sugest wen you go into RS get one of thoes little plastic batterie holders .. they sell a single batt holder for an N size batt fits great. I suppose it will depend on the size of the thing inside the black box but mine was just small enouph to fit whout problems.

dragon4450 10-24-2003 12:25 PM

what brand did you get? that will let me figure out the size i need to look for.

Savior*insider 10-24-2003 05:08 PM

Firepony 10-24-2003 11:14 PM
