for those of you who have them...
can those of you who are lucky enough to have received your SE chime in here about how your steering is? in particular, does your front wheels stutter and does the car turn smoother in one direction than the other? mine has these problems, saw some others with it as well. just trying to get an idea on how widespread this issue is.

you can adjust both the steering trim under the chassis and the trim on the controller
mine came stuttering outta the box, i tried to center the controller trim first........cuz that only turns maybee 2 turns the alignment under the chassis turns alot.......i centered that then turned the wheel on the controller.......visibly you can see how much you need to adjust.....keep on turning until your car drives straighter.......then back to the controller trim after about 20 minutes of adjusting, i got the stuttering to stop and it turns evenly both directions |

Same situation with mine, I'll definately give the adjustment under the car a shot now too (I was only fidgeting with the steering trim on the controller). |
the steering trim on the controller makes big adjustments...
the chassis steering alignment is the fine tuning one.. my second one outta the box was bad.... had to bust out the soldering iron.....but at least a got a few shots of the guts i guess..... i adjusted the chassis aligntment first just by turning the car off then on, and turning the screw.......turn off and on and see if it was visbly closer to center........all this without the controller on, and the car has to have some kinda charge :D it doesnt have to be perfectly center yet, but close is good... then turn the controller on, adjust your controller trim til you drive somewhat straight......and then finally adjust the chassis steering alignment til it drives as perfect as you want |

same here my stearing does the same but thats not to bad . i mean nothing could make the s e look bad except for how high up the body sits on the chassis

Anyone else notice the bottom of the chassis is slightly twisted? Both of mine appear to be when I look down it towards the front. This explains the problem I have with the left front wheel not touching on take-off.

I am on my 3rd SE, first two I ordered, sent one back got the return today, it is twisted as the other two were. However, the new one is twisted way less and the other two even had different varying degrees of twisted-ness. On the other one I kept, I had to put a thicker tire on the one side to balance out the twist. Works great and doesn't affect steering, however, with the one I got today seeming to run best so far, the other will probably get returned too. I am STILL stumped on the manual and how to work the alignment on the bottom of the car. If this adjustment in fact fixes the left stutter issue, I am jumpin for joy. I still don't understand how to work it though, after reading the manual 10 times and reading the previous post here like ten times...:rolleyes: Also, do NOT try to take the front end apart to shave a bit off the tip top of the knuckle to correct the twist, as it makes it worse, and is why I had to add the thicker tire. Just a friendly warning...;) |

and the suspension goes higher up and down on one side for some reason. but as long as it runs straight im happy.

these problems would drive me absolutely insane, even if they did not affect the performance. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to that..:p

I posted this in the FAQ thread, but here it is again. Drizz's fix did work for me to get rid of the stuttering and correct my turning issues.
Actually, I just tried it. It's pretty simple, but hard to explain. Remember one thing. You have turn the car off and back on after every adjustment made to the alignment dial under the chassis. This resets it to the position you just adjusted it to. The controller also has to be on for the car to reset each time. When you adjust the dial and reset it, you can visually see where the front wheels are and how centered they are. Do this until they appear centered, then test it by driving it. The dial on the bottom of the chassis has to be turned almost one full turn to see any movement in the wheels. I just did this, and now the sputtering has stopped and my car turns both directions pretty equally. I assume that the sputtering may be from not having the alignment centered and the servo? having to adjust for this? I think the key is getting the chassis adjustment centered first. Credit Drizz for this as he found this out, I only tested and verified it. I kinda did mine opposite of Drizz, and used the alignment adjustment for the major adjustment, and the steering trim for the minor adjustment. |
