Muscle Machines RC update

Didn't know where this post should go so I'll leave it to namuna to decide. ;)
I just got word from suntzu that muscle machines has slipped in some supras into their rc line. This means that most likely they won't stop with the american muscle. Muscle machines knows their bodies and scale well. I don't have a car yet so I dunno about the rc side, but the bodies make it worth while to get one. Everything else is modifiable anyway.;)
Here's a link to the info...

All the conversations we ALL have had amongst ourselves about Muscle Machines becoming RC...before it happened.

I wrote a verse about ...like to hear it? Here it goes...

"Its been a long time but we waited.... Muscle Machines went from Underrated ...to now most anticipated
I always knew these would KILL yo ' Bit', With Tight Body Kits to make yo' car look like ****'
Only the LONG time Tiny/Pimps knew the deal..im talking casted bodies - stretched chassies on German wheels of Steel...
Unless the 2.0 upgrades is all blaze....plan to see Muscle Machines on Bling keep Pimps in a daze."

Im OUT!

Big Ups to PORK CHOP IN JAIL! LOL j/k

Seriously...heres hoping the front tires are the SAME SIZE as the rear and the quality of rubber on the tires is decent enough to grip. Other than that stay with the Status Quo....

Cubicle, hey I have a couple Muscle Machine RC's, Wal Mart for $14.88 each...I have posted a review in a couple other places, don't know if I can mention them or not( *************.com and on a Muscle Machines diecast board), and a quick answer to a couple of your wonderings....Tires in front are smaller than the ones in the back, the rear tires aren't quite as wide as the diecast MM's, but pretty close to what the diecast tires/wheels look like...Also, the Rear Wheels don't grip that well, they should have used a softer tire, 'cause on a lot of surfaces, it spins out too easily, but I'm sure there is a way to remedy it..overall, though, I definately think they are worth it...also, they have a pretty cool way the steering is set up; it is controlled by its own motor!! very cool, they steer and handle great once you can get some grip on the tires!! anyways, if you can't find the posts about them in other places, lmk and I can cut/paste it all to here, if that is allowed!! david p. Oh, also, there will be a Tuners Assortment coming out real soon, keep checking Onestopdiecast.com, Fred Blood will get them first and be the first w/Pics!!!

I haven't gotten a "perfect" ride straight outta the box yet. I'm not expecting much from these but atleast I won't haveta stretch any chassis. I'm just looking forward to all them hot bodies.;)

NoJodash- Are the wheel setups the same as zips and bits?
What kind of motor do they have, hard wired or not?
I don't need a full review I'm sure I'll find you on the "other" site.

nojodash 08-08-2003 09:49 PM

Sessiz10, not sure what you mean by wheel setups, but aside from a longer wheelbase and wider rear tires on the MM's, they seem like the same types...as for the motor, I haven't taken mine apart to check, so can't help you there, sorry, I cut/pasted my posts and another guys posts who did take one apart, if you make it to the other site, you can get the pics that he posted of the inner workings! later, david p.
Hey, you can email me @ nojodash@aol.com if you need the website addresses for more info on these!

hi all, MM RC's are hitting stores finally, saw them at Wal Mart, $14.88.....picked up the Orange 27 MHZ Camaro, my thoughts are as follows:
1. Controller-Very cool, mock tachometer/gauges and cool flame design; noticed the darker colored controllers are for the 27 MHZ cars and the 49 MHZ's are a lighter controller color. Also the red light on the controller lights up when buttons are pressed!
2. Charger is very cool, it is small and takes 2 AAs and the way it connects to the car is so so EASY, it is just a little round metal about 1/8" connector sticking up that fits into the hole on the bottom of the car, very easy and simple!! Once the car is charged and the light goes out (about 45secs), you insert the charger unit into the controller and then that is the power source for the controller, yay less batteries!
3. Car- Super nice, if you are a fan of Muscle Machine style cars or muscle machine type cars then you will be very happy, great detail, just like the diecast ones except these are a lightweight plastic!! Rear tires are nice and wide, fronts are smaller. Speed- very quick out of the box, I'd say around a 3.0 motor, not sure though! Handling- This was one problem for me, I couldn't get it to hook up on either of my tracks, it just kept spinning out, Rear Tires are too hard and have no grip! I fixed this by cutting a really thin strip of double sided tape and wrapped it around both rear tires and now I have excellent grip and it handles EXCELLENT; rubber cement trick would probably help also, or if anyone else figures out an easy replacement for the stock tires, let me know.

Overall, I'd rate these a 8 or 9 out of 10, very fun and fairly cheap... Another couple of things, to get to the insides, their is one screw to undo and then the body will come off..I heard that the Steering is unique, like it has a separate motor controlling the steering?? Not for sure though, 'cause I don't know the insides and outs of bits that well.... Also, read on the Muscle Machines diecast board that some people are finding, In and only in HOBBY LOBBY, two different colors of SUPRAS that are R/C!!! It was confirmed by Fred Blood, owner of OneStopDiecast and major bigwig with Muscle Machines that they included the Supras only in the Hobby Lobby shipments as a special release, so be on the lookout for them; Only a matter of time until we see some Muscle Machine Tuners and hopefully some Muscle Cars with stock hoods/hood scoops!!! Anyways, just wanted to update my original post!!! later, david p.

HERE IS A RESPONSE FROM ANOTHER PERSON:
Here is my 2 cents...
I played a bit with them. They seem to have the speed of a 2.0 motor. Pretty good response both for the gas and steering. They seem to like to spin out a lot, but that may just be my floor. As for the range, my kitchen is about 20' long, and it easilly goes across and back no problem.

The body is held on with a screw in the front and tab in rear. Removing the body and the PCB cover reveals......motorized steering! No wonder it turns good. Single blue battery. Charge in 45 seconds, I got around 4 minutes runtime.

The only problem I encountered is that one of the chargers kept on charging and didn't shut off automatically. Be carefull. All in all, I'm happy and see some modding potential here. I already got some ideas.

Here is a pic of the two different color controllers for the two frequencies. The charger has a pole that fits in the bottom of the car to charge, and then slips in the side of the controller to power it.

Here is a pic of the insides...notice the motor for the steering and the mini servo. Hmmm...I wonder what if I replace the steering motor with a 4.2??? J/K

Thanks for the reply.
What I meant by wheel setup was, does the rear axel pop out making it interchagable with other geared axels and are the front knuckles the same as most other micro rc cars.
I guess I'll just have to go buy me one.:D

nojodash 08-08-2003 10:11 PM

Front knuckles appear to be the same design/type as bits/ZZ's...the rear axle seems fixed, it does not pop out on the bottom like bits/zips, unless when you take it apart (body held on by a screw in front) you can take it off from the top, don't know for sure....One more thing, sort of different, when you either run the car or roll the car manually, there is something that makes this high pitched sound, not too annoying, kinda cool actually, not sure what it is that is doing that, if anyone figures out this 'unique' sound, lmk! thanks, david p.

sessiz10 08-08-2003 10:50 PM

The squeel could just be the gears.
Thanks for the info. I saw the pics supplied by ahh5hit and from what You tell me the axel is not easily removable. I'm not saying it aint though.;)
I'm also thinking since the drive motor is encased that the motor is probably hardwired.
I'll say it again I gotta get me one.:D
