7.2v with Overland ball diff. and Mini-z wheels

Hi,
I don't have the GPM ball diff. for Tripmate, but I found that GPM for mini-z overland fits nice.
And I used mini-z front wheels, too.

See:

Hey, that's cool. I did the same but used a racer ball diff(Overland was non-existent at the time). Check it out here...

Yes, I've seen that aritcle. That's a great modification.
But I couldn't cut CF for the modified H plate, so I tried overland ball diff. cuz it doesn't require the self-made H plate...
Anyway, I was impressed by your work. Thank you.

Nice Tripmate ikinari; question about this:

Does this imply that you also own a Sonic? How is it?!

ikinari 08-11-2003 11:14 PM

No, the sonic racer hasn't been released yet here in Japan. But the batteries are released. They are 1.2v- 270mA par cell and half AAA size.
I use this for my mini-z light weight chassis:

Cool, may I suggest that you post this project over at the Mini-ZRacer.com forums? Thanks! :)

Hi ikinari,

Where did you buy your 330mah GP 1/2aaa cells? Thanks.

Donut

ikinari 09-02-2003 07:13 AM

It's sold by Squat in Japan.

I don't know whether they sell it for a customer abroad.
Sorry.

Did the overland Diff fit the kawada with no other mods???

Hmm, this could be EXACTLY what I'm looking for!!!

PS, how do you charge those Sonic cells???

Thanks!!

Hi Cian,

Yes, the OL diff fits the Kawada with no mods. Just use the spacers that come with the Mid.

Cian 10-01-2003 09:49 AM

Cheers, Donut!!

ikinari 10-01-2003 10:27 AM

As Donut said, some spacers needed. Thanks, Donut ;)
And note that the OL pully has only 36 teeth. That means you must use a very torqueful motor or a pinion large enough.
Gear ratio table for reference:

Have fun! :p

thanks for the tip Ikinari!
I really like your website, lots of english, good photos!

Not sure now whether to adapt mini-z chassis for fm with tripmate electronics, or adapt kawada for mini-z diff& wheels...

Think I'll try both!!

If you have a spare GPM Ball Diff for the mini-Z or Mid you can use its spur gear on the OL diff so you get 40T or 42T.
