Sand Dune Track

if you wanted to make a cool track you could get some stuff to make a buch of hills on plywood.(dont know what to use yet) Then you get alot of really fine sand paper that looks like sand and you put it on there. YOu could have like a starting and finish line and just go your own way. A n 8-4 piece of plywood that has dones all over it = unlimited possibilities and fun

You guys posted on my birthday! Sounds cool! Sorta like baja race. Use monster truck tires and bodies and be really silly!

sounds cool but on sand paper you would get lots of traction which is exactly what you usually have a problem getting in sand dune racing and if you spin your tires is would be rough on them but it would look cool

I was gonna get a 4x8 sheet of plywood and a bunch of 4x8 sheets of pink foam. Glue the first layer of foam draw up a basic course and add some blocks like in this link http://bcoleary.home.att.net/Terrain.html The only difference is that I will make more of rolling hills on one side and add alot of white glue and real sand, then on the other half change over to an jungle type off road scene. or just make a bunch of hills like in this link http://www.fortunecity.com/underworl...ll_making.html and throw em on my carpet for a free run.

For a Sand Dune track there are two methods you can use. Build it up with foam slabs from Home Depot and paint it with flat tan enamel paint that you've added fine sand too or you can buy Foam Coat - http://hotwirefoamfactory.com/prod_foamcoats.htm

I've tried both and think the interior finish Foam Coat looks exactly like sand. I use it on my brick/rock walls to give them rough sandy detail.

I made a mistake on my first track by using foam board. Big no no. Paint, clay, or anything else with moisture will warp it. And don't buy any wire cutters from hotwirefoamfactory.com. I've owned three now and they've all burnt out on me.
