Weight reduction+lowering center of gravity
 
What have you done for weight reduction and/or lowering the center of gravity on your car? My idea is to make the chassis into a pan chassis, cut out the windows of my body, and somehow relocate or use a different battery. At first I thought of using one of the button cells like the ones for laymans dual cell, but then I read they couldn't put out much current. So now I am looking for a rechargable battery about the dimensions of a nickel. With a battery with those dimensions you could lay it flat in the chassis, therefore lowering you center of gravity. It would probably weigh less too. See ya later!

your into micro rs4's arent you? umm you can cut out the sides of the chassis. and lay the pcb on the bottom of the chassis.

Sorry for the multipost but I have another idea. What about wiring the layman dual cells in parrallel for more runtime, more current, and you could mount them in the bottum of the chassis for a lower center of gravity. They would be lighter than 1 regular battery too. Anybody with multiple cars wanna try this? I only have 1 complete working car.

you could use the 3v cells used in the LED mod, but i dont think they'd work all that well.

2 layman's cells in parallel(sp?) would get you about 140mah. definately lighter than an aftermarket 140Mah in a single cell.

i asked if you were into micro rs4's cuz you wanna have the lowest center of gravity with your car or itll flip going 30+mph. and yah ive done those mods

ohhhh yeah i thought of an idea. you could cut out the bottom of the chassis so the pcb fits in there perfectly then the COG would be lowered. i think.

Well if I cut out the bottum of the chasssis I can't cut out the sides and the sides weigh more and are higher on the chassis. I was thinking though and if I did the button cells in parralel i could put them flat on the buttom of the chassis and put the pcb right on top of it. My question right now is has anyone run the button cells in parrallel? How did they perform? Oh yeah, does anyone have pictures of these kind of mods?

Actually two layman's cells would amount up to 80 mah. Now the ratio of minutes to mah is 9/10. So for Every 10 mah, you'd get 9 min if fully charged. So, using ratios, 9/10 and ?/80, divide 80 by 10 to get 8 and multiply 8 by 99 (edit: I mean 9) to get 72 min total runtime. Now, 36 min would be the FULL runtime of a layman's dual cell.

Have you read the laymans dual cell thread? If so, you should better understand my concerns. My main concern is current to the motor and that these cells don't deliver enough current for high rpm motors. That's why I want 2 of them in parrallel, mainly to deliver enough current and a little more runtime and a little less weight and a lower center of gravity.

Ok, i'm doing fullsize wheel mod tonight, so i'm gonna have to cut the chassis anyway. I'm doing some of these mods. I also got a skyline body set cecause it looks lower and is lighter. So tonight I am putting on fulllsize wheels, making the chasssis into a pan chasis and lowering/ lightening my clear skyline body.:bdrop:
