So what does it look like in the daylight?
The lights are really cool, btw. |
the lighting is cool! but you can't see anything else.
|
Cool, do I see hills in the back right?

Battlefield
It doesn't look nearly as cool in the daylight. The board was designed with night battles in mind. Also, I wanted a good surface for the tanks to maneuver without getting stuck, without contaminating the wheels and mechanics, etc.
Some details: Materials: 4x8 sheet of plywood large piece of tan vinyl tablecloth material rags, etc. HO railroad buildings with lights Ruined buildings made from fome-cor board HO railroad trees Place plywood on coffe table, put rags, etc on plywood board where you want mountains, ridges, etc. Drape tablecloth material over whole thing, smoothing over the obstacles made with the rags to suit. Place buildings and ruins where you think they will make the battle interesting. Hook up lights to 12 volt supply. I'll post a daylight picture when I get a chance. |
How about this

The idea was to use a light base. Then the tanks would be easier to see when the overhead lights are off, and the battlefield lights are on. This setup works great with four players. Nightfighting is excellent.

it does look like fun! now if the new tanks would only come i could do something similar....i have an unused ping-pong table that will be the base for my battle field
|
The terrain is on cloth so why not take advantage of elevation. Just shove anything under the cloth.
|
The hills . . .
are difficult to see in these pictures. There is a small one in the left foreground. In the right rear, you can just see where the mountains start. The entire center of the 4x8 is mountain range.
