Anybody in Seattle?
 

I am pretty new to bits, but I need somebody to race! I have tricked out a couple cars and want to build a track, but I do not have enough room at my house.

Anybody have races around North Seattle, or know of some where to race?

I want to build a track, but I have no where to put it. I was thinking about making one that is mobile. I am not sure of how to do it yet but I am thinking.

cowfish, I am pretty old compared to most people that post in here. I still like to play with toys and video games (BF 1942)though. I want a gas powered RC, but don't have an extra $500 bucks or so laying around (my wife would kill me).

You can't be that old (not as old as me).

I am an hour and half north of north seattle, I could make a weekend drive down (got relatives all over down there) for some good racing action. I been die'n to smoke someone with my new mosfet modded bit

bdebde, you must live about Mt. Vernon or so? I wished I had a track to offer some time on. I will have to get to work. I have seen some cools ones on the net. I wished someone knew of a community center or hobby shop that had a track. I have a bit of an interference problem in my house (only 27mhz, 49mhz is fine).

As for the age...I am not ancient, but old enough to be some of these guy's dad. My son is only 3, too young for bits.

So what does a mosfet mod do to a bit. The only reference to mosfet circuitry I know of is car stereos. My CD player and amp both have mosfet power (supply?). I haven't got to complex in my mods yet. I took out the crip caps from the cars and did both anteana mods. I need to buy a Dremel and try a dual cell. I think one 160 nimh is pretty fast with a strong motor, I am not sure if it is worth the work (or if you can control the car!).

The mosfet mod is quite bit harder than a dual cell. For an easy dual cell without a dremel, try a Zip Zap. Three batteries will fit in those no prob. I also think the Zip Zap handles much better that a bit with dual cells.

The mosfet mod removes 4 transistor from the circuit board and replaces them with lower resistance mosfets. This gives more power to the motor. I have mosfet modded cars with 1 cell that are almost as fast as 2 cell cars. micro_Amps did the mod on 2 (1 bit, 1 zip zap) of my cars. I did a couple my self as well. micro_Amps does mods for people all over. Send him your car and he mods it and sends it back. Here is a link to the mosfet mod thread.

I looked at the posts on the mod, and it looks like fun.

They just fly with the mosfet mod! micro_Amps does quality work, he has the tools and the experience. Do it with a booster car if you have one. My booster car is as fast unboosted as it was at full speed before the mod (see signature).

yep, I am in the middle of making a track right now...a downhill one in my basement. I have another rally track, but it's pretty rough right now (especially on the cars..:( ) so i don't use it much.

yeah, i have been in this hobby for a few years now but i don't usually do heavy modification, i really like driving pretty normal cars...

i use lots of different frequencies, 49, 57, 45, 27 are the ones that run right now

maybe we could round up a few more people and meet somewhere? might be fun.

That would be nice to have some frequencies other than 49 and 27. I need to look into that.

cowfish 29 - 15 years old huh? I wished they had fun stuff like bits when I was in my teens. You drive the real thing carefully.

Hey bdebde, where do you get a 7 tooth pinion? That would improve speed but lower torque right? Or am I backwards?

That is correct, more speed, less torque. Torque is not a problem with fet modified cars! On some cars the gear mesh is too tight, sometimes it can be made to work by using a paper shim in front of the motor. The seven tooth pinion is from a Hotwheels Kit Racer. I have only found them at Toys R Us. You also get a set of higher speed gears, a battery (Tomy 50 mah), a motor (2.2 or 2.6), and some tires.

I've been 16 for a month or so now, i'm just trying to learn how to drive the other car well enough to take my test on...should be fun.

hmm, i've got all summer to sit around, i'd come drive if you guys have the time.
