perfection 4.2

i got the perfection 4.2 motor with one of the cars i ordered from toy east. it seems to be very slow and is barely as quick as the 2f2f nos motor. its pretty lacking in torque. anyone else notice this?

Mine is simply awesome. I have to run to keep up with it, and it's still the stock single cell.

I've been getting mixed results with the 4.2. The 4.2 in my new Super BIT runs like a rocket. The 4.2 in my MS Sport single speed is very weak. The King 4.2 Pro motors are a different story. I have them installed in 5 different MSPRO's and they are consistently the fastest motor I have.

TheEvo 07-06-2003 05:26 PM

So how would they run in non-pro bit's?
If they are as weak as then i guess it'll be 3.8? I heard they would be the most "Secure" - The dane is back..

I just got the 4.2 and 4.2 Pro also. The Pro is awesome in the booster car. It is as fast as a 2.6 (or bigger) without the boost.

The King 4.2 is so-so in a regular chassis. It takes a bit to build up speed, then it is hard to control.

I just bought a Darkside 3.4 too. It is pretty damn fast too. I was impressed.

I would recommend either - the 4.2 set is a steal for the price )two motors), and the Darkside is worth the dough.

I should be getting the TinyRC R-Spec any day now in the mail...

did you break it in? thats a must for speed motors, or any motor can benefit for that matter.

eman1 07-07-2003 12:11 PM

How do you break it in, run it upsidedown for a few battery charges?

TheEvo 07-07-2003 12:41 PM

How about a 4.2 pro in a non-booster car?
Well, i cant order here as TinyRC dony ship to Denmark and also that i dont want to pay "The white out of the eyes" in shipping.. - so..

complaisant 07-07-2003 06:46 PM

I don't know how other people break in a motor, but I run one or two cycles through without any gears. There is probably various ways to do.

Hey TheEvo - get the Perfections (4.2 King and 4.2 Pro) from toyeast.com. You get both motors for the same price. Shipping is not that much - it goes by weight, so small parts are not too much. I ordered two motors and a set of heatsinks and the shipping was about $6.

I am not sure what the difference between the two motors is. Anybody know?

Murcielago659 07-07-2003 10:59 PM

The pro is designed to withstand the pulsing of the booster chassis when they aren't boosting. The way a booster works is that on the low speed it sends power in pulses, then on the boost it's a constant current.

10$ ain't that bad.. but i feel more safe buying them in Denmark, even that BOTH cost 3$ more...
