Cellphone lights?
Sup modders, i can't get mini LEDs here, but i can get the little lights to light up cellphone LCDs. What are ur views?
|
thats a really cool idea, those lights are tiny, but ive never seen white ones, most are green or blue, so they wouldnt be very good for headlights.

yeah, my bro has the "little tiny" led's that come from a cell phone and thoes are called SMT led's. Surface MounT led's. They work for ground lights as i will show in this photo. the green glow is from the led's mounted to the body shining down.

I finally found a place that would sell them to me direct, and now I have 5 whites and 6 reds. what watt rating soldering iron should I use? 10W? 15W?
|
MThunder, how many volts do you run each led on? mine shine good on 3v but don't even light up in 1.5 :(

Probably a 10W if that, considering the size of the solder pads on the leds (TINY!).

So like to those who use SMT LEDs, how many cells do you use? 3x4.5V? 2x3V?
|
one 3v lithium

here's a little info on cell phone LEDs.
0603 SMT Leds is what you'd want to look for. They come in about 6-8 different colors (i think, maybe more). Check out www.all4cell.com for even more info about'em, they also sell the LEDs there. I must warn you they are extremely small, and if your going to be running wire get them at Radio Shack - 30 gauge insulated wire. I own a cell phone store that customizes phones with different colored LEDs so any questions about the stuff just ask me. |
So far, I have 8 reds (TV controller) and 10 greens (cell phone)
