just got my 1st bit char-g... has problems turning
Hi, I just got my 1st bit char-g. It has problems turning. It doesn't turn left, and when I turn right it just spins out. What should I do?

Okay, so I took the front end apart and put it back together. It now turns left, but still when it turns right it spins out. How can I get it so it turns both left and right the same diamter? This is a TT Hongli clone if anyone cares to know.

does it have the white tab for steering adjustments like the char-g car's?

Yes, I adjusted it so the car goes straight, but that still doesn't explain why the car turns super sharp to the right and not sharp enough to the left.

I had the exact same problem and still haven't figured it out. Check out this thread where I asked about it.

Its a moot point now since I was working with it and I ended up accidentally breaking one of the tiny copper wires that leads to one of the electromagnets. Ironically I was trying to insulate those wires in case that was causing the steering issue. I'm wondering if replacing those wires with something higher gauge (and insulated) would improve performance in general along with solving the steering problem? I noticed that while I was having the steering problem you describe, the magenet itself seemed to be more attracted/repelled (not sure which?) to one side than the other when tested independantly. Either way those spider thin wires made me nervous in the first place. Has anyone here replaced those magnet power wires? The connections to the circuit board look tenuous at best so it might be difficult to solder a new connection on. Anyway hope this helps yet is not disheartening. |

so a wheel might be bent out of place, or something else is broken |
I also have a bum Bit that spins to the right. I noticed that one of the front wheels is attached at a slightly higher point than the other, causing the car to "teeter" on 2 diagonally opposing wheels. If I take the white steering knuckles out and install them in another Bit that normally steers fine, it exhibits the same spin-out characteristics.
I've got some replacement knuckles on order from Tiny. |
I dunno about st5150 but my bit turned fine and then it started exhibiting the behavior he describes after I had opened it up to do the spring suspension mod. Don't think I stepped on it or anything, but who knows. Oh well, it was an OEM that I paid $15 for shipped, life goes on. Looking forward to checking out those new zipzaps from radioshack, price is certainly right assuming the quality is bit char-g level and not OEM level.
