EASY mod! if steering on one side better then the other on hard areas

If you get this problem (pretty sure every mini car does) it is because the motor is putting all the power to one side of the car so it is easyer for the car to turn right then left well i have a pretty good idea (not sure if this has been suggested before): first buy some colored wheels (prefered form the this site: www.kidrobot.com , this is the cheapest site that I could find and has super fast shipping, and also this is were i got mine) and then put a blue frount wheel on the right side and the purple or red wheel on the left...OR put the purple on the right and a red on the left, whatever works. This should help even out things...i know it did for me!! oh and the back doesnt matter what wheels but i would put on the red ones so you will have some mega turning power!

Nice work Awaken! I got a good way to fix steering for cars that don't go straight when you aren't steering!

hogjowlz 05-22-2003 04:53 PM

first mod: i havnt tried that but it sounds hit or miss depending on the car

second mod: that makes less rubber contact to the floor which means less grip

i could be wrong on both. all i do is pull the wheels off and reglue them with a stonger and stiffer epoxy. i have no problems going straight.

yeah hog just gotta see if your car will work some dont some do you never know...oh yeah and hog my car goes really strait but one side turned better then the other...i just LOVE it when it goes straight when you want it to!

Hey, I'll try this. Aren't those colored tires just the same as black hard, medium and soft ones you can get?

Awaken: straight. not strait. :)

yeah yeah till i know i made a typo..and i dont think they are the same those are just different tread type not hard med and soft...

My bit had off set steering due to one side getting all the power, but I fixed it by preventing the axle from spinning in the rim of the one side ;) (just use ca to fix it).

Awaken 05-23-2003 09:30 PM

yeah i did that also it helps too but you still got better power on the other side..

I don't think so because the force of FRICTION between the tires and the floor will only change if (1) the tires are made of a different material, or (2) if the weight of the car changes. The PRESSURE applied on the floor by the tires would increase as the area decreased, and vice versa, but they should grip the same.

I just tested it by rolling the rear wheels. They roll in a giant circle, so it's working! Add tape to the right side if car car tends to pull to the right; and tape to the left if it usually goes left. That should straighten it out.
