In Search Of range..
so pie wants more range. pie got more range with the POTs mod, but the greedy little bastard wants more... so pie tries to stick a extendable antenna on his controller...
being the poor little monkey i am, i dont have a soldering iron... even so, i got the antenna on fine and secure, but.... looks like i busted a wire... the one going from the board to the battery compartment.. (the red one, to be exact)... so now, pie has no controller for his supra... :( any way i can fix this without going out and buying anything? (namely a soldering iron...) i think we all agree pie's an idiot... |
lol, just get a nice mastercraft one for 10 bux :) imma pick one up soon.
|
i got a radioshack one for like 8 bucks but um you could tape it together with electrical tape with a wire connecting it. dunno if it'll work good or at all but it's a possibility. or you can just borrow ralliart's iron when he buys one. or you can do what i do when i destroy a controller and am too lazy to fix it.....buy a precious for 10 bucks and use that controller. i know you guys dont have pacmall in edmonton or whatever so you might not be able to buy one for 10 bucks (canadian too).

Just solder a X feet long piece of wire from the antenna of the car to that of the controller, should be enough to add X feet to your range.
|
pie aint got no solder yet that's why he's asking for alternative solutions
|
lol just hold a screwdriver in a fire for a bit and use that
|
Do you have a blow torch, or perhaps an arc welder?
Seriously now. If the red wire broke in half, you could use a butt splicer to crimp the wire fragments back together. |
im serious you can melt the solder to put the wire back in if you do that
edit: oh um did you mean that the wire was pulled off the battery compartment or just torn in half |
lol thx for all the replies... ima check out the mastercraft one later, and if that one dun suit my needs ima go get the one at radio shack...
heat we dont have 10 dollar clones here, just 25 dollar cannonball or panthers or whatever... got it all soldered back together w/ my friend's iron... but one question.. is solder supposed to be like.. metal, like hard... and then after a couple seconds turn pur liquid, then go hard again? cuz it's friggin frustrating... lol, one second it's hard, next it's liquid.. |
Lol, yes. More or less. Soldering is a skill, but a usefull one if you plan on ripping your bit wires off frequently. ;)
|
yes ecspeccily if you have bitt you break often(like me :) )
