Here's a few suggestions - hope they help.
- make sure your solder joints are small, meaning the little ball of solder connecting the wire to the battery should be as small as possible. This way you don't have to force it to fit in to the chassis' battery holder bay. - use some soldering paste before you solder, it acts like acid will help the solder adhere to the surface. - scratch the surface of the battery a bit, just so it isn't completely smooth, this will also help it to adhere. - use thin wire, about the same thickness as a stock antenna, it fits under the PCB cover nicely. It fits in to the little "nooks" just after the chassis' battery bay and right before the heat sink. that's about it. normally if wires are popping off, it's the soldering job itself. This has happened to me several times. How I avoid that problem is by marring the smooth surface a little, tinning my wire, and using a soldering paste. After that, I've had my cars take some serious falls from 4 foot and more on to concrete and she's still going strong! good luck holmes, let us know if you have anymore problems ;) |
