Old pcb vs. new

I have herd things about the new pcbs being better than the old ones, is this true? Whick cars have them?

sessiz10 04-29-2003 02:09 PM

Black mustang and gold civic are hit and miss. The rx8 and the 350z have the new ones.

Actually, the RX8s are also hit and miss. I got one with an older style board.

SupraMan017 04-29-2003 02:19 PM

Wow that sux. You'ld think RS would scrap all the old pcbs. Then again that would be a loss of profit so I guess they wouldn't

My Gold Civic has the old PCB but my 350z, mustang and RX8 have the new one. The old PCb is really limited, no matter which motor I put in the civic it moves slow. I think the old PCB is maxed out on the red motor.

Here are pics of the old and new PCBs. Credits to the original poster of these pics, I found them here on the board and don't remember who originally created them.

I made those :), but those were of the second PCB. There are actually 3 different PCB's. I've bought four 350z and the two I opened both came with the new (3rd) PCB. For those looking to buy a zipzap, I'd buy a 350z. I'd only buy one of the other ones (Gold Civic, Black Stang, and Rx8) when the stock has been refreshed. Ask the store if the ones on their shelf are from the original shipment. If they're from a second shipment, you might be safe. However, you still might only get the 2nd PCB, which isn't bad, but the 3rd can't be touched.

i agree the 350z is a little bit faster than the x-men cars

Really? I have both and the 350z can't touch the RX8, I think it is just luck of the draw. My 350z isnt slow but it isnt as quick as the RX8 with the same engine.

I had bought a Mazda RX-8 and got a PCB different than the ones posted....I think some Mazdas have the third PCB....but a newer PCB means you can handle the R-Spec motor to it's full potential, right?

Is there a PIC on the forum showing the third PCB? I have two that are different from the two posted in this thread. I'm fairly sure they are the third PCB as these two cars have unreal performance. A link or a PIC would be nice. I've searched on PCBs, but a zillion posts come up.

Thank you very much! Looks like I do indeed have two of the 3rd PCB. My other new car, a black Mustang, has the original PCB in it. I seem to have skipped the middle edition all together somehow.

My oldest car is a champagne civic and I have at least one car from each subsequent release. I've noticed that each pcb has a number 931178 on it. The champagne civic has just that on it while my other cars have a white stamp over the top of this number. Just curious if anyone else has noticed this and if this could possibly be a means of easy identification between the 3 pcbs.
