nother question

how do you know if the car has the new pcb if they are still sealed in box. im thinking about getting another zz and want to make sure i get the new pcb, i already have a 350z and Do not want a x-men rx8. so besides those, which have the newer pcb.

the black cobra and the gold civic have it too.

why dont u want the rx8? it comes with a red motor stock..and u can just swap the body with something else if u dont like it.

I agree with clint....don't rule out the rx8 just because you don't like the body...with the setup it comes with it is a nice fast car.

Also, my rx8 is faster than my buddy's champagn civic with the same motor/gear combo....faster acceleration and slightly better top speed.

The civic is slow as dirt, I would not recomend it. I have a Black mustang, Civic, 350z and the RX8 and I would have to say the RX8 is the best of them all.

plus the controller is shiny and you can see if you have stuff stuck in your teeth:D

I bought a new black mustang and it has the old PCB. The 350z and the rx8 i bought both have the new one. It's a safe bet that you will get a new PCB in the new body styles. I have found one indicator of whether the cars have the new PCB or not without opening the box. Take a real good look at the antenna wire on the car. It's usually wrapped around the chassis in the package so it will take a good look to see what I'm saying. Take one of the antenna wires from an old car with you, you'll need it for referance. Now, here's the difference between the two. The new antenna wire is slightly thinner and more flexible. You can't test the flexability while it's in the package, but you can make out the differeence in thickness if you have an old wire or even a whole car to compare with. It's very slight, but you can see it.

won't the RS workers think you are loony when they catch you looking at all the zipzap boxes with a microscope?:D

i bought a black mustang and it had the 2nd to latest pcb revision and it cranked out mad current to the motor, so much so that it went off the scale on my DMM which is limited to 200 mA. according to namuna's measurements, this is almost twice of what bitcharg's pump out. oops, forgot to mention it was a dual cell. but this mustang ran a 3.0 and 3.5 motor on single cell just fine. the pcb's in the rx8 and 350z is a newer revision that is supposed to fix the problem of the car slowing down on turns

Don't count on the Civic or the black mustang having newer PCB's, the ones I got had the old PCB's. Rx8 or 350Z has newer pcb.

weird...both my civic and black mustang pcbs are clearly different and handle the higher rpm motors much better than the purple PT and yellow mustang pcbs. the difference in speed was night and day.
