New Zip Zap clone?
I work at K-Mart and on my break, I was walking through the toy dept and spotted a micro RC car. It's called "Micro Blast Racers"
It apears to be a Zip Zaps clone because of the size of the car (more in scale than Bits) Only thing I noticed different is that the steering is not controlled by coils and magnets, but has a motor instead. It's a bit harder to get into the case as there is a screw but the battery can come out a door on the bottom of the car. The charger is on a keychain separate from the controller. Anyone seen any of these yet? ~Mike |
I bought one of those months ago, they're made by mga if I remember correctly. The motors were hard wired in and mine lasted a good 2 days before I tore it apart. I was very disapointed with the range and speed.

ANy easy speed boosts for this car?

The easiest way for that car would be to add another bat, but unfortunatly because the stock battery is in it's own compartment, dual celling the car is gonna be a pain. Like I said it's been months but I think I remember the rear axel being integrated with the chassis. This also sux.

I like the thought of motor steering! That would be just the thing for a monster wheelset! I will be keeping an eye out for these!

Yeah, the rear axle isn't removable very easily.
I noticed that the motor driver steering is much stronger than magnetic steering. Like strider said, this would be great for larger wheels as they take more effort to turn them. Overall, the car does well speeding up to full speed, but full speed isn't very speedy. It would be all that hard to add a battery. Even though the battery is in a compartment, the terminals for that bettery are accessable from inside the car under the circuitboard. For parallel, just solder to those terminals...for series batteries, just cut a wire and put the extra batt in between. They have several SUV bodies available which would give lots of room for battery mods. On the PCB, the transistors aren't all lined up along the edge like the ZZ is, so it was a bit tougher for me to trace all the circuits from each motor to look for power boost posibilities. If I find anything that works, I'll let you guys know. ~Mike |
I got one of these cars and I love the fact you don't haft to clean the magnetic dust of and I'm going to mod the cars wheels with ZZs and a ZZbody mabey even put ZZ gears in.
Basic Velocity=red gears zz wheels and a zz body Second car=blue gear monster wheel mod ZZ truck body |
