Light/Dark Headlight PCB Plans

1 Attachment(s)
Here is my surface mount PCB plan for the dark activated headlights I was talking about a long time ago.

The board is 1/2" long by 1/4" high with a 1/8" notch at the top for the antenna. If you haven't guessed already, this is supposed to fit in that rectangular hole in the back window. The silver pads in the top right go to the LED(s), negative pad on the outside. The other two pads (top left and slightly below other) go to the battery(ies),positive pad in the upper left. This uses a 1K SMD resistor, a (small!) photocell (below 10K dark resistance), and a 2N3904 SMD transistor.

You can run any color LED. 1 battery for red, yellow, and dim green; 2 batteries for blue, white, violet, and superbright green.

This is an analog circuit, so the lights will be different brightnesses, not "on or off only". You can always add a small relay or something to make it have a "digital" output.

I have not built the PCB, but I have tested the circuit, so I know that works.

So... Anybody try it yet?
