Another Pic,

PWalk 03-09-2003 09:21 AM

I will be posting more pics as time goes by,
also I'll include a materials list
and a "how to?" guide so that everyone here can build one.

This was my first ever attempt at one of these things and I have to say I'm impressed. It's not a fast course, but it is challenging.

If your building your own course and need some tips or have a question post them here and I'll try and help ya with yours.

Fairlady on a WRX chasis... tackling turn #1

That track is too pimped... Do your cars ever get hung up on it? Like, on little bumps and whatnot?

hyperdriveb 03-16-2003 11:56 AM

Nice work man,I think you did a great job!!

Dougboy 03-16-2003 08:38 PM

now the question is does the car run on that thing? or is it just for show? an overland whould be sweet on it. do u have an overland?

PWalk 03-17-2003 11:06 AM

The cars rarely get hung up, and if they do course rules mandates the following:

"If for whatever reason a driver has to touch their car while racing he is automatically given a 5 second penalty. 10 seconds for the second time, 15 for the third time. The time penalty shall never exceed 15 seconds."

We're serious about racing! LOL

No overland here, but if you feel like contributing or talking trade I'll listen.
Thx for the feedback, more photos to come...

I like those rules, the track looks like a real challenge. I hope one day to create a track like it.

PWalk 06-16-2003 09:47 AM

Bump! I'm back after 4 months away from this site.

Working on another track so I'll be posting some new ideas soon.

Cool!

After I get my airbrush and soldering gun and move into my new house(August 1st). I'm gonna start one of these! What did you use for the base? Plywood on a table?

PWalk 07-01-2003 10:09 AM

This is copied from my rally course ideas and suggestions thread:

Ok, first off the materials list:

1 Package of Styroboard (styrofoam used for insulation) bought at Home Depot: $5

All Purpose craft glue (Brand Name "Tacky Glue") on sale for $1

Utility Knife...$3 preferably with a 4" blade if you can find one.

Crayola Model Magic... about $3 a pack and I used 3 small packs basically. DON'T USE PLAY-DOH, it will crack upon drying and then it looks like crap!

2'-4' piece of 1/4" thick Hard Fiberboard used for the base, $3 @ Home Depot, you can find it a number of sizes. I used this size to save on space.

Assorted Tempera Paints, $1.50 a bottle. Tempera cleans up real nice, it's water based and CHEAP!

Plaster of Paris, got 8lbs. for $5... another good deal, but difficult to work with. If I had to again I would just buy more Clay.

As for the trees? go out to your back yard and grab some twigs, then go to your local Arts and Crafts store and buy this stuff called "DEER MOSS". You can find it where they make floral presentations. Only $2.50 a bag and you'll only need one!! I just wandered upon it, what luck. Also you can buy cheap sponges from a Dollar store and shred them up. and if you want grass just tear the green pad off the sponge and use it.

So...where is it? :D

Racer9 05-04-2004 02:54 PM

yeah!

PWalk 06-07-2004 10:24 AM

Still being worked on.

Sorry haven't been around but since summer time is upon us what can I say? I like the outside.

With that said look for the course to be finished by late August.

It's looking like another rally course even though it started life as a road course. Dirts just more fun.

MattPaintballer 10-31-2004 12:24 PM

Nice track! The scenery is awesome! It must be pretty hard to drive on that track!!! Much skill needed, and most likely a Two-Speed otherwise you would probably go too fast :). I can only imagine some speed freak with a 4.2 driving on that... Good luck with your new track!

PWalk 09-19-2016 08:11 PM

13 years later and this track is long gone. What a trip down memory lane as I pulled out my old cars this past weekend.
