i finally glued my mini cooper model togeather to make a mini x body. it looks pretty bad(as in not good) right now because i cant find the head lights and tail lights and other small things but i will and ill put the on. in on of the pics you can see the front looks wierd. thats because there will be no front bumper because it would be to flimsey when i glued it on. heres the pics

there are also no body post because the body wasnt as wide as the car so when i put it on the sides kinda like grip the sides of the car. its kinda hard to explain. hope yall get what im saying

i wanted to do a mini cooper too, what model kit are you using

sawhit4 12-30-2003 11:36 PM

its from revell/monogram. i wouldnt recomend using it. the front bumper just glues to the rest of the body with no support. one head on collision with anything would probably knock it off. i found my lost parts and will finish it tomorrow. i will also try to find a way to support the bumper. oh yeah i got the model from www.towerhobbies.com

3series takumi 12-30-2003 11:39 PM

the lack of support is kinda normal. they are models after all. the revell lancer i have though is all one piece. it makes it stronger but the plastic is way to thick, it makes the car too heavy for serios bashing

sawhit4 12-30-2003 11:44 PM

yeah i got the mini cooper mostly for show because i didnt like the way the lexan bodys fit on the car. do you know where oswaldo got his big back wheels? i think those make the car look alot better with the lexan bodys.

3series takumi 12-30-2003 11:50 PM

my guess is if he used slot car bodies, he probably used slot car wheels too

do you thing the font bumper can be mounted directly to the chassis instead of the body. or maybe spring mounted to take some shock. im so jealous you beat me to the mini cooper shell.

i would really like to find a miniS but i dont think they make them. i may have to make the hood scoop and craft a wing myself. i want to make it look like the cooperS in italian job

haha thats where i got the idea for a mini cooper but i didnt paint mine like they did. i never thought of mounting it to the chassis. ill look into that today. thanks for the idea.

i glued on all the parts and mounted the front bumber with velcro. it works ok but it wouldnt stay straight while driving the car. to take the pic i had to keep adjusting it to stay straight. heres the pics. the last one is just to show the side mirror because it actually reflects! yay!
