RCP Track Compatibility Problem (thickness)

Hi,

I bought RCP Track parks from two different shops.

The problem is: they do not fit. While they are both 12"x12" , their thickness is different so that they are not usable together.

Now I am really angry.

Does anyone know what the precise thickness of the 12" rcp tiles sold by tinyrc is ?

Did I bought a cloen (fake) or did the thickness of the rcp tracks change over time ?

thank you
Sebastian

You purchased tracks from two different countries. Kyosho Japan tracks are of a different spec. for example their rails on the 30cm tracks are 5/8 inch tall compared to USA tracks that are 1 1/8 inch tall. Also there is always going to be varying thicknesses due to climate temperatures from different countries and how old the tracks are from each other. I would suggest either buying all track pieces from Kyosho Japan only or buy them all from TinyRC.

The track tiles are ground down at the factory to give them the rough texture. It is impossible to get the height of the tiles exact from each different production run. Buying track pieces from different countries might make the chance of a tile thickness tolerance, that much greater.

With that said, there will always still be some varying thicknesses from track to track, but it hasn't been a big problem as the rc cars tend to just drive over the joints without issue.

If you have this issue already, a quick fix would be to add some tape on the thinner tile where it joins a thicker tile at the joint. This will raise the tile to meet each other.

Thanks
