3.0 tomy worth buying?
Is it? or shall I go 4 a 3rd party? i want fast,and a lil controllable.for floor racing.
Thanx! |
im not sure, but most of the people here seem to say that the bitmod motors are better than the tomy 3.0s... i think it's cuz the tomy 3.0 has a bad rep with bit char-gs... but i dun wanna mail order.. so it's tomy 3.0 for me.. when the shop gets them in.. i'll tell you how it works when i get it!
well tomy's 2.6 is pretty weak. i dont know about the 3.0
jus so you know, if you get a bigger motor, such as a 3.8, which is what i have, dont run it too much at a time, only use it sparingly in short races, they have a tendacy to burn out easily. i learned that the hard way....:(

FWIW, I'm happy with the Tomy 2.6 from a KIT racer . |
hmm i found that the 2.6 has very very little torque. my good clone motors get about the same top speed with 5x the torque.
Yes agreed...the 2.6 is very lacking in torque which is why, as far as tomy engines, I prefer the 2.2. If I want faster than that I use the zz turbo engine (red one I believe) which has a TON of torque. I was able to pop wheelies in my nephews NSX-R with out any extra weight in the back or doing the dual battery mod! (well I was impressed at least hehe)

i should be getting an r-spec today or tomorrow. it is supposed to have 3.8 top speeds with more torque. ill post details.
hmm if 2.6 tomy's lack torque, then would the 3.0s be weak as a baby then?
and also, tomy 2.6s and 3.0s have more torque than a 1.0 rite?
the answer should be obvious.. but i dun know it :( |
maybe, maybe not. maybe my 2.6 is bunk. i kinda doubt it tho because i have a "zcars" 2.6 and it is only slightly better.
hmmmm... k... im looking for a 3.0 instead of a 2.6... and i know both have MUCH higher top speed than a 1.0.. but which one has higher torque?
man, i sound like an idiot... |
all i know if a 3.0 is a lot more fun than a 2.2 or a 2.6
i was driving my friend's 3.0 in my automodellista. We had 2 2.2 motors, 1 2.6 and 1 3.0. The 3.0 was the only one that could get up the tech deck ramps every time. The 2.6 got up every other time. We kept switching out teh 3.0 because we all wanted it. It was a lot faster than the 2.2 motors. None of us have used any better motor, so we have nothing to compare it to. |
kk that's it then.. no more competition, 3.0 owns 2.6... :D
Yea, the 2.6 is terrible. I use the ZZ Turbo also, and it is soooo much better. I've heard that Tomy motors in general lack torque. I think I'm gonna get one of the Tiny-R motors when someone gives some feedback on them.
I want a good all round motor, torque and speed, whats recommended? I wanna give that cat something to chase!
I'm waiting for the review on the R-Spec motor before I buy anything.
I hear the 3.5 BITMOD1 motors are pretty good nice top speed with good torque.
right now, it is between the 3.2 bit mod, 3.5bit mod or tinyrc r-spec motor.
well you can make up for the loss of torque during take off by switching the gear ratios.
by using a 12:1 gear ratio, you can get a better take off with a 2.6 or 3.0. and just because the 3.0 has a better top end, it doesn't always mean it'll be the fastest. it all depends on the course your driving on. if its a short track course, then a 2.2 or 1.6 with a 12:1 ratio would be best. but if its all out drag racing, then a 2.6 or 3.0 or 3.8 with a 8.25:1 ratio would suit it better. again the choice of 2.6, 3.0, or 3.8 would depend on the length of the track. |
