Things just got interesting.
If you've read some of my threads, you might have read how happy I was with the WalMart clone sold as MotorWorks and imported by Planet Toys. Well, my love for these have went to another level. I don't know if this is how other clones are, but this clone has a very unique steering system. Instead of two coils on the sides, it only has one coil. It's where you'd normally find the magnet. And in place of the coils on the sides are two magnets. This is awesome for two reasons. As I mentioned before, I love the steering and handling of these cars. Now as a Mod'r I'm really impressed with it. With the coil being in the center, it only needs two coil wires. That's the first plus. The second plus is how it works. Apparently it changes the polarity of the coil to decide which magnet it goes to. When it does this, it's pushing off of the opposite magnet. How brilliant is that? It can hold some serious turns at any speed. I never had a problem with the previous set-up, but I'm just picturing what I can do with this configuration now. Are there any other mini-rc's like this out there?

I am going to Wal-Mart tomorrow.
I'm sure my wife is going to murder me for buying more toys, but it'll be worth it. :D |
whats the name of these cars and how much are they.

Motor Works 14.00
|
Went to both of the local Wal-Marts tonight. One of them had them, but only 2 left - and they were the motorcycles. I'd like to get my hands on one as well.
|
What is this strange obsession?
Man...this really ticks me off! hehe I have never seen a single bit clone at my local walmart. And reading this just makes me even more mad. I'm gonna have to try all the walmarts around here in my area cause I gotta get me one of these. What all kinds of bodies do the motorworks come with (that anyone has seen)?
|
They don't even tell you what the car body is. All I can do is guess, so I'll give it my best go.
I've seen a truck(looks like an f-150), SUV/wagon (looks like an Outback had sex with a Pathfinder) and the only other one I've seen looks like the new two seater BMW hatchback, but with a spoiler added. The bodies are ok, but the paint needs a little work and the decals had to go. They might all come this way, but I've only seen the BMW in a clear body. The antenna is monstorous compared to a zips, but so is the controller. It's made for a mans hands. |

Have you seen the ZipZap clone at target that costs around $10 and has a motor/gears up front that activates the steering?
The car itself is about as long as a ZipZap but the gears are on the right side of the chassis. The battery drops out of the bottom (1/3aaa 80mah nicd) MGA entertainment is the manufacturer |
Those Target clone cars are...
Micro Blasters. I think they put these out on the shelf when all the MicroSizers are sold out.
Pretty decent speed, but the gears are super noisey and the generic bodies and rims are hideous. I REALLY beat on mine when I run it- seems pretty durable though. John |
I don't have a target where I live. Sounds interesting. I'm heading to the big city for Christmas and will make sure to check them out. If they're still there. My guess is the entire country will be out of Micro RC's a few days before Christmas. Unless these clone companies really punched them out. $10 is worth seeing how the steering gears work. Is it proportional?

I have a Micro Blast Racer and cured the noisey gears. You need to lube the metal pin that the spur(counter)gear spins on. Also lube the axle where it is supported by the chassis. If you do this to your Micro Blast Racer or any other micro car with a similar gear box , this will gauranteed bring the life out of the car! You will notice a big increase in performance! By the way I use Aero car lube designed for rc car bearings and bushings, but any similar lube should work.:D
DO NOT lube the gears themselves! |
Check nthis thread out to see a pictur of my Micro Balst racer next to my Micro RC! Both have motors for steering!:D

Here are a few Micro Blast Racer pics...
In various stages of (dis)assembly:

ONLY $10?!?!?
That looks sweet. I bet the steering is pretty straight. So is it proportional? Can you tell it how much you want it to turn? I've always liked the gun controllers better too. Where the heck is the battery? Is it hidden or just taken out. I hope I can get my hands on one of these. For $10, that is smokin'! |
Stridex...
The steering is not proportional, and the controller (with seperate charger) is a twin-stick type unit. The 80mAh battery is in a compartment accessed from the chassis 's bottom.
http://home.mn.rr.com/johnrtse/RCmic...icroblast7.jpg http://home.mn.rr.com/johnrtse/RCmic...icroblast6.jpg It does handle as well as my ZipZap, and is faster than my ZZ with NOS motor/green gear combo. I am contemplating a wheel tire swap- to the left-overs from the K.I.T. Racing units (that I bought for the orange 2.6 motors). John |

Got confused with the other thread r.c.dealer posted. Very cool pics in it.
That controller looks SWEEET! How's the range on it? I love the stand alone chargers. Saves my controllers battery life. Someone has to hook me up with one. I don't have a Target here and I doubt they'll be around when I get to one before Christmas. From the steering, battery compartment, and price, you can't lose. Body looks great as well. I'll gladly swap a brand new unopened MotorWorks for an unopened one of these. I have the limited edition clear body BMW looking body one still in its case. Any takers? |
man would u sell me a motor works.... i well want one please!!!! i live in uk :( please man
|
The controller range is about the same range as my stock 27mhz ZZ & MicroSizers- not bad but not great.
The car and controller both have a somewhat cheap, toylike feel to them. Again, not real bad, but not the quality of the ZZ or Ms. They still are very much worth the $10 investment though- and I think that they definately have possibilities in the hands of an enthusiastic customizer... John |
how cool is that?!?!
Can you call it a clone?? it's only the size that is the same right?? I like the stand alone charger, and the bat holder in the car and the controller... hell everything is coooool I WANT ONE!!! too bad i live in sweden.. the slowest country in the world to get movies, games and cool stuff. :( |

i was going to buy a MW when i saw it a couple time, but the look of it just drew me away...
but i can just putty a kit on :D id likea micro blaster or whtever, but ive never seen them |
While I am new to the micro R/C world and haven't seen all of the various brands yet, I haven't seen a car similair in construction to the Micro Blast Racer- It can't be considered a "clone" IMO.
Stride- If your interested I am willing to trade my Micro-Blast straight up for an unpackaged, like-condition Bit/MS clone. I just have no interest in it, even though it has some neat features. My Micro Blast has been charged/run only 5 times, and I have (carefully) only opened it only twice (the second time to take some pics of it for you). Email me if interested- I can send it out UPS Wednesday to you- if you like it when you get it, just ship me your trade... John |
Deal, but let's wait til' after Christmas. I'm going to be out of town for a week or so. I don't want it to arrive and just sit by the door. I'll send mine out at the same time. Plus, they won't risk being lost in the holiday mail rush. I really appreciate it.
