my update
1 Attachment(s)
been awhile since ive posted any pics so heres what ive gotten done in the last week since i got back into xmoddin
i tried 2 diff color paints, candy red over gold, and candy red over anodized base... im goin with anodized base which is on the bottom half of the chassis |
1 Attachment(s)
i really like this color and i hope it looks boss on my supra body when it comes in the mail...
|

i also got around to making my wheel extensions to fit my 11mm tires (for a mini z) the front wheels are 11 mm and the rear are 15mm and required a set of stock xmod tire to fill in the gap
i also got the front suspension to work in the back, pretty tough cause i had to bend up a tie rod to eliminate wheel movement |
1 Attachment(s)
another shot of the extensions, i havent yet fused the tires because i wanna nickle plate my rims at school then glue on the tires...
you can also see the hightech tierod (paperclip) which is routed unter the driveshaft bracket (yellow thing with bearing) and can roate freely to alow for full suspension movement *** also i had to shave the inner area of the wheel to alow it to be placed closer to the body, otherwise they stick out way to much on the bodies (this explains the yellow washer to allow for proper nut to axle touching) |
1 Attachment(s)
rear sway bar made of 3 peices of clear plastic put together (3x thick) whats cool is that i can adjust the stiffness of the suspension by tighning or loosening the screws...
|
1 Attachment(s)
front sway bar, 2x plastic same deal as the rear... also their isnt a body clip, cause i had to sacrifice it to get the rear suspension springs to seat properly)

talk about hole shot traction...

and at the opperating table...
the patient: a fully stock xmods electronics package... |

lets just say she wont be staying stock for long, more pics to come...
|
looks like its gonna be a hot car!
its gonna be hard to get that rear servo set up just right |
rear servo? no no no lol i dont want 4 wheel steering, if i did id just link the front and rear tierods together somehow... but anyway i was referring to the paperclip as a tie rod but its just holding the wheels straight, sry for the confusion...
btw i 4got to add b4 that im using a rear biased AWD with plate type differentials and a viscious LSD in the rear... |
Very, very nice. Thats going to be awsome! Im going to pickup my 04 Stang today (xmods of course). But I cant decide between the 04 Stang, the 67 Camero, or the Vette. Any suggestions?
|
ooo i dunno thats tough, what car do u have already? if this is your first xmod then what do you what kinda mods do u wanna do to the body?
all three bodies are tight, but id personaly be leaning towards the 04 stang just cause i like the 1:1 version |
I had the old yellow skyline but of course is was twitchy and glitchy, may it rest in peices as a donor car.
|
thats cool, its always nice to have a spare set of everything..
oo also coolbig2 if u want i could change the colors of the cars u listed, if u wanted to compare the cars at diffrent colors |
so you are going to link the fron and rear tie rods so you can have AWS? i'm confused on what your trying to do

yea like i dont plan i making 4 wheel steering although that would be a possible mod in the future down the road, right now im more concearned with gettin my baby runnin... also if i loosen the bracket the holds the driveshaft, it alows the rear wheels the pivot slightly, kinda like a shortcut to AWS but like Murcielago659 im just using this setup to have an independant rear suspension
|
oh i get it now.......hmm we'll have to see how it turns out
|
i have high hopes... o well i tried to wind my 260 johnson motor didnt have much luck i was gunna try out 12 double turn with 26 guage wire... but i couldnt get it to fit which sucks and then i ended up breaking one of my brushed when i tried to reassemble it with 10 double turn.... o the words that came out of my mouth... newayz i looked on this site but their aint a good tutorial on how to wind a motor, this was my 1st winding attempt so ill just keep practicin...
|
alright i just wired up my controller to have a nos function rather than the hi/low switch what id really like to do is figure a way to make low even slower... i want that so that my 14.4v xmonster will b controlable for the turns, then hit nos and fly down straight aways.. dose anyone know hoe the hi/low function is worked? and how i could make low slower...
|
u guys wanna see my nos button?
|
Nice cars and it should be lookin great with the colour you chose cuz i love it :p Sure i'd like to see the nos button.

so this weekend i got some more stuff done and infact finished up the entire chassis of my car aswell as stage1 (of 3)
heres what i started with... |
1 Attachment(s)
got it all back together and is now being drenched in wd40... later on ill prolly reatke her aprt again and polish it up, make it spiffy and what not...
you may have noticed that there arent wheels.. well im changing up the rear ones, im gunna put the extension on the inner part of the wheel so it dont pertrude out of the body as bad, and also make a smaller lip for show on the outer portion of the rim. finally ill nickel plate them at school. to get the wider rear wheels to fit i had to cut off the lil rods from the hubs (slide up and down in the lower control arms), and screw the hub directly to the control arm which is made out of construction paper so it moves easily. |

as requested my nos button...
it was fairly simple, just wire the switch as a jumper for the "hi" leads of the regualr "Hi" "Low" switch, tricky part was fit it all together. it isnt pictured but i had to dremel a notch for the wire to fit in, and also shave the lil black contact thing that moves when you turn the wheel (if uve taken apart your controller ud know what im talkin about) |

beter shot, it can still fold down but i forgot to take a pic.
|

last pic for now,
i also modded even mechanical aspec of the steering, i shaved off the stopper on the steering wheel, because the controller has internal stopers (i should shave those also) i cut down the stoppers on the servo as well as the top indicator on the horn to allow for more travel. i also shaved parts of the chassis to allow for mor wheel travel (the "D" shaped thingys") and also the slides for the stock batt holders (wont b needin those) thats all for now, enjoy the pics and look forward to my hopefully working electronics by next week... |
so what does the button do and how does it work?
|
That's a re-wired throttle adjustment button.
It's kinda like "omGz!!1 U GotZ n0s!!!". Just a novelty. |
the nos button replaces the Hi/Lo switch on the controller, in essesnce my car is on LO until i press the button then she goes on HI.. this isnt a novelty because with my setup ill need all the throttle control i can get, im thinking of even doubling up the springs on the throttle trigger.
|
its a novelty, you want throttle controle learn to use the throttle trigger. im not trying to put you down or anything. just my .02$

Again, I think you need to put more effort into learning how to drive, instead of doing things like this. |
grrrr ill admit its a novelty, just looks cool that i press a button and my car speeds up, i wish i knoew how to post vids so u could see the drift vid i made last year, just to prove how good of a driver i am...
on a side note it was the first snow in chicago, SO MUCH FUN!! i kept pullin my E-brake to make my car fishtail all over the place, and didnt even come close to hittin some1 so i guess im a good driver... hope everyone has a good thanks giving, i know that after i eat im off to wire up my car and hopefully have her runnin, wish me luck |
hey guys, well i crashed and totaled my car cause a tire blew out and i kissed (edit) made out with a tree... so yup past 5 weeks have been hard with no wheels, but now ive got some in the 1:24th scale so go and check out Project Inferno

ok lol, im alright thanks for asking... so yea
i also got suspended form school for fighting... so yea im not in a good mood |
I figured you were all right since you were well enough to post about it.
|
so today i got to working on the cars electronics, re wirred everything and plugged in 1 batterypack (7.2V for testing purposes) and a hugge puff of smoke came out. i looked around and discoverd that 1 set of fets are + and the other set are - and make a nice short when they touch. so for tomm i will make my own board and redo the circuit a lil more professionally. out of curiousity, if i short the fets are they dead? if so i need to get new ones, sign... but otherwise my regulator worked like a charm and the receiver saw 5V... yay
