ViperKid 10-15-2002 10:18 PM

i have
NOS motor/red gears

it works ok, it still doesn't have great speed.
:(

although RadioShack did good by putting in the gold wheels in one of the tune up packages. now i'm bling blingin ;)

go_zz_go 10-15-2002 10:24 PM

well i have one that set up nos &green

but my fav is my other thats red red i dont know why its just all around better quick off the line and stays strong till the end

my setups

for some reason, to get 'matched' speeds/acceleration from a 27 and 49:

27MHz - NOS motor (yellow)+green reducer+blue axle + treaded tires

49MHz - Red motor + blue reducer + red axle + slick tires

- wood (maple) floor surface; these combinations provide less 'spin-out' and better matched racing

- both cars weighted down with 3V liIon for brakelight LED mods

I use the NOS motor with the blue gears.
My girfriend uses the TURBO motor and green gears.

Mine's quicker off the line, but hers can take me on the long run.
Our cars are pretty equal on our 1/4 mi. track.

And what's this about mixing gear colors? Is this legal? Safe? Ect.?

Go0ty 10-15-2002 11:36 PM

i use turbo/red

BLAKE 10-16-2002 11:42 AM

Okaaaaaay, well back to the topic.

I switch from Red/Blue (acceleration) to Yellow/red (top speed)
Depending on the conditions. The lower blue gear is definately more fun in the twisties. :D

i use the red motor and the blue gear at the moment. i think ill keep the blue in for the most part. im gona either go buy a microsizer today or a k.i.t. racer for parts. depends what the kid wants to do today.

natedogg4674 10-16-2002 02:19 PM

gear/motor

microsizer pcb, stock microsizer motor, red gears in my zip, super fast, about to do dual batt mod

EcLiPSe 2.0 10-16-2002 03:21 PM

i try using the nos and red gears, but it turns like %^&* and has crappy acceleration.

Gear motor combos

I have noticed I can get the effective speed and turning when I match tires, susp, motor gear combos. Working on chart will post when done.
However what works for me may not work for others.

Im using a turbo motor with the blue gears and plan to see if i can fit a 3.8 bit motor in there.. Here's a picture of my Fast and Furious Supra...

The "all red" setup seems to work the best for me for road courses with lots of turns.

I have a 27 and a 49, and I run red gear, red motor in both, with the "all season" tread tires on both. They 49 runs a little faster right now, but only because the motor is newer.

I used to run the slicks on my 27, but I think they have actually worn unevenly, as I was getting some wierd wobble that I originally thought was a bent axle or something. Putting the all-seasons back on seemed to fix the problem.

I have noticed that the motors definitely wear down with heavy use. When one of my reds gets particularly slow, I will probably put the yellow 2.35 motor back in. Luckily, ZZ motors are cheap, but unfortunately, you have to buy the other stuff that comes with them. (I already have three blue axles / gears that I will probably never use.)

Here's my Mustang, devoid of paint. I plan on repainting it, but my my painting skills suck. (It has been stripped twice now.) I think it looks crappy this way, but it is definitely unique:
