BC's Custom 350Z

I finally got back to painting an Xmod, this time my new 350Z. I also did some custom work to the body kit. I added the mild body kit, but shaved off the bulky side flares, and shaved some of the front and rear air dams. I then slapped a custom paint job on her. It's a very subtle tribal style flame on the sides and the hood.

RacinSkillZ101 07-26-2004 09:39 PM

err i want a 350z body now, thanks alot their goes 40 bux... that paint is sick! were the flames and graphics painted on, or water slide? also what color is that exactly, would make a great candy base!

Bad Company 07-26-2004 09:44 PM

Thanks!

Everything was painted with rattle cans. ;) I used Tamiya Gun Metal for the flames and Light Gun Metal for the rest. Basically all I did was paint the body the color the flames were gonna be, then applied the masking in the shape of the flames, and then painted it the color of the rest. Finally removed the masking to reveal the flames and applied clear gloss.

Thanks guys!:D I do lay down a thin coat of primer to give the paint something better to stick to. It also lets me see any imperfections that need sanding.

newbitowner 07-29-2004 12:27 AM

do you also paint the suspension?

dietryin 07-29-2004 09:43 AM

wow.. i cant get enough of it.. the stock rims painted black would also look nice BC..

and i just went to radioshack and bought 3 bodies, 1 black civic and two red supras, the two supras were complete cars.

so today i will be painting the supra metallic blue with a silver undercoat to bring out the color..

thanks BC.. im painting then your way

The chassis it is sitting on was previously painted an aluminum color for one of my other bodies.

BC -

That is freakin' TIGHT. Probably one of the best I have seen on here. Tell me, what did you use to mask off the windows? You did a very good job. What kind of tape did you use? That seems to be the bad spot for most I have seen on here...the windows always look rough.

Bad Company 07-30-2004 05:23 PM

I use Tamiya masking tape. It has very clean edges and is made just for modeling. Another key is to not wait until the paint completely dries before removing the tape, sometimes the paint edges will crack when fully dry. Very slowly pull the tape off when it is still kinda tacky.

viperdout 07-30-2004 07:22 PM

Needs to go into the 350Z gallery. Awesome job as usual.

skklown 07-30-2004 07:33 PM

They come in the new wheel upgrade kit.

finks 08-13-2004 11:36 AM

BC you just can't go wrong with your paint jobs. I love em all. I still feel tho it's a pitty that RS only used the square bodykits on the Z. I love the smooth Porche looking front ends, they look more like stock.

Shelby_HEMI 12-09-2004 07:08 PM

If you race that body, a lot of people here will want to kill you. THAT IS GORGEOUS!!!
