warning do NOT goto Xmodworld.com right now....

warning do NOT goto Xmodworld.com right now.... some one obviously hacked it, and its installing stuff through security settings... it also loads sites that you kinda dont want to see, even if you do like porno...

aperson 04-17-2004 02:19 PM

thanks i know where to go now... j/k

i just went there and i have no problems. nevermind, i just got the porn site. got it right after i logged on to their forum. im gonna tell them.

ME2fast 04-17-2004 03:14 PM

yea, i noticed that this morning. It only does it when you click one forums. You can go anywhere else in the site. I still go there though. Just when you see it starting to load on the bottom, before it switches screens just hit "stop" on your browser

Draconious 04-17-2004 03:52 PM

well it some how managed to change all my IE security settings to ENABLE directX wich I know I disabled... and various other things, it was loading itself just by starting IE after I left the site and rebooted ... I had to dump out a lot ofcrap to "fix it" temporarily...

meteoraclown 04-17-2004 06:14 PM

ok now it's not my computer. almost got me introuble.

tcg23 04-17-2004 06:54 PM

dracoinus, I hope you didn't have direct x disabled..

I believe you meant to say active x, which can be nasty when abused.
I'm blaming you anyway, you told us not do something, which means that it is imperative that we do what you told us not to.
:D

Oh well,
-Jason

Draconious 04-17-2004 08:06 PM

yes active X... either way they are from the same evil source of software...

PS. Do NOT give draconious 1,000,000$ a year, for no aparent reason...

maxximum attack 04-18-2004 12:33 PM

Any remedy to this problem. I feel my PC is running low on virtual memory because of it. It's a real pain to navigate the net now. I'm getting alot of blank pop-ups and crap  .

aperson 04-18-2004 01:46 PM

well i went there again today and all it did was change my homepage. no biggie, didnt change any settings fortuneatly. i would reccomend putting all active X options on prompt or disabled. also make sure that if you're using Windows XP that you have their firewall enabled, i also run Lavasoft Zone Alarm. its a fire wall. after you visit the site i would also reccomend running Spybot Search and Destroy. it found some stuff that was bad. i run it every week with no problems so i would highly reccomend it.

viperdout 04-18-2004 04:52 PM

I got Search and Destroy. It's amazing what stuff installs w/o you knowing it.

aperson 04-18-2004 05:18 PM

Gator is the reighning king of spyware. (spyware= stuff that installs on computer w/o you knowing) Lavasoft AdAware is also a helpful tool for removing spyware.

SHIFT_DRIFT 04-19-2004 04:05 PM

looks ok now.
i dont think it has done anything to me.

Draconious 04-20-2004 01:54 PM

Adding to this, I just deleted about 7 links that I know I did not add to my Favorites columb... cuz they were porn links, and likely would carry the same code... and reinstall itself ;).

SHIFT_DRIFT 04-20-2004 03:44 PM

system restore works wonders. it had got me out of problems atleast 10 times. check out my pimpin hp. its got amd 3000+, 128 mb ati radeon, a pimpin window with 2 blue cold-cathode install by yours truly, and some other kewl stuff....o, and im not in trouble any more...i showed my mom this thread

aperson 04-22-2004 06:00 PM

awww man an hp? mine is a celeron 1200mhz, 160mb ram, 40 gig hdd with 10 gig going to hp's system restore. cdrw drive and a cd rom drive that i added, floppy, also added a 17 inch monitor and a usb 2.0 card. im looking into an ibuypower machine i can spend the same amount of money for their computer that would have been spent on the Dell and get more. i probably shouldnt be complaining though. its only crashed a couple times due to windows corrupting itsself. its xp home.

EDIT: that looks awesome. i just got the pic.

I've been a regular on xmodworld for a while now, and yes it does indeed suck. Mongo is working on getting things back to normal. As long as you have an up to date anti-virus and windows firewall enabled you don't have anything to worry about. I've been back numerous times since it's been hacked to see if there has been any change and I haven't had any problems. I visit about 4 or 5 different xmod forums a week and xmodworld is one of the best as far as getting tips on how to do all kind of things with xmods. I don't bad talk ANY forum although every forum has it's good and bad points. Let's just hope the hacker isn't an xmod fan. J

silentracer 06-22-2006 11:20 AM

sry to hear about the site being hacked guys. some other stuff i have been using that u might wanna try is ad-aware (just like sybot but picks up things that it misses) and norton anti-virus aswell. never can be to safe!

Jazz32 06-22-2006 01:57 PM

Guys, this post is over 2 years old and has nothing to do with present day. Try not to bump really old threads.

jimmyznutz 06-22-2006 03:13 PM

2 years old? I dont think so. The site just got hacked yesterday.

KingFuzz 06-22-2006 10:16 PM

The thread is indeed 2 years old, so it looks like they have been hacked before. Hopefully for them they will learn to really secure their site (or switch to a host who does).

Then start a new thread talking about it, don't bump this old one.

KingFuzz 06-23-2006 05:27 PM

Why start a new thread. Yes this is an old thread, but at the same time it is the same topic.

Namuna 06-23-2006 06:00 PM

This is indeed an old thread and I'm just going to go ahead and lock it down now.

But for future reference start a new thread about new circumstances and you can refer back to old threads as reference.
