i recently got my replacement skyline in the mail. well anyways...the replacement body is being painted candy apple red right now and i should have pics of it tomorrow or late tonight.

thanx for the compliment. i used testors mettalic silver for the base coat, testors candy apple red, and plasti-kote fast dry enamel clear coat

not a big fan of the color, but I gotta hand it to you, thats one sick skyline

Did you use primer?

no primer. just 2-3 light coats of silver, then 6-8 coats of candy apple red, and then 2-3 coats of clearcoat

Wait a minute... You're telling me I can have any color I want metallic, and all I have to do is put a base coat of a metallic silver and a top coat of whatever color I want?????? If the answer is yes, THEN OMG THANK YOU VERY MUCH. If no, then, oh well.

Is that what Testors calls Candy Apple? Looks a whole lot more like Cherrybomb to me. But anyway, awesome job. Things seem to always come out better whan you take your time.

actually, no. The paint that he used is actually Transparent Candy Apple Red. It requires a base coat of either silver or gold(I'm pretty sure gold works too, though I've never tried)...



first off, very nice work skklown. But I may reccommend maybe using more silver and clearcoat, and less red. I've used this same paint on may cars... Hopefully the paint shows up better in my pics.

and one of my infamous mini cooper xmod... keep in mind that this is actually a fadefrom dark to light candy.... basically, look at the color on the hood...
