Video: My drag Civic vs. stage 2 Skyline
My ISP is going to hate me for this one...
http://users.adelphia.net/~neurokine...e1-smaller.mpg This is my drag Civic (6 cells, custom-wound 180 motor, AWD, bearings, CF driveshaft, soft slicks, weight reduction) vs. a Skyline (4 cells, S2 road race, bearings) The Skyline doesn't look that fast in this video, but rest assured that it is. No 130 motor that I have made has been able to beat it, it would haul me down at the end of the track every time. The 180 that is currently in the car can take him even with 4 cells, though. |
i cant see the vid.
|
I'll re-encode when I get home. I don't know what codec the software used, but it doesn't work for me on my work computer either.
|
I was able to view it. Very fast civic :D The skyline looked like it was stock compared to the civic. But whenever there was only 1 sec left to end the vid, a message came saying some type of error then my computer would freeze
|
she flys,wow
|
dang, that's fast! could you do a dragrace between two cars where teh only difference is the 180 and 130 motors used in that vid?
|
Yeah, but unfortunately, he is a staunch RWD guy, and I know that with the kind of torque I'm getting, that AWD is the only way to go. On four cells in the same car, I still ripped him a new one (it didn't get taped, though) and with the Team Orion stock motor, I killed him in the first half of the track, but he caught me at the end, and won by probably a single carlength.
|
 whoa now that was fast!!!!!!!!
|
LKAFJSDFLKASJDFLKAJS!!!!!
Damn, that's fast. Real men encode with Quicktime/AVI. |
Did you ever put those funny car tires on it?
Also, do you have any way to check the speed? |
The funny car tires didn't do what they were supposed to do (ie, provide traction  ) so I haven't used them. After finding that AWD doesn't have a huge effect on top speed, I've abandoned the idea of going RWD.
Top speed according to the Tamiya Speed Checker is 38kph (23mph), which isn't really all that fast, but it certainly reaches top speed in a hurry. :) After some experimenting, I think Divx/mpeg4 is the codec of choice. |

That Civic was hauling....
|
nice video, i made my own video actually, showing some of my drifting/ burnout abilitys but i dont know how to post..
|
hey, I was wondering how much of a difference the CF driveshaft actually makes in acceleration? Or maybe help top speed with the AWD kit.

thats hot!!! but i heard of a dude on this forum that has made a stock car with a locked diff a stock motor go 15+ so with a stage 2 probably lioke 25 (but i think he is liying)

Hey, neuro, in your custom wound motor, how many windings did you put in the motor? Did you use Neo magnets? Also, with the 6-cell, what type of batteries did you use? Sorry, but this is interesting stuff you got there! ;)
Chuckster... |
I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong, that this post was made when he had the Team Orion 180 motor with 10winds removed from each leg.
|
This was with a hand-wound 30 turn 180, and six IC3s. There are no Neo magnets available for 180 cans, unfortunately, unless I wanted to try to retro-fit something from the 130.

So the the Blue S2 motor is faster but less torquier than team orion. Correct would the 6-Cell change that?

my dad......
My dad hand wound a 35 turn an d i think we are going to put it in this weekend i think it will be fast ;)

Thanks a LOT, neurokinetik. :) Chuckster... |
And, BTW, neuro.....
Were you recording that with a digital camera? If so, then did you record it on the memory card? If no, then how did you manage to get it on the computer? Chuckster... |
if it wasnt digital he probably used a video capture card.

I lost to a bunch of 4th graders! My car was sputtering, and they were running, and they had about 5 feet 3/4 through the race. By the end, I took up 3 feet. With enough room, I coulda' taken them. I spun out, hit rocks, threw a tire on 2 occasions, and fliped over once. The road was littered with debris. I just fried another recevier board,   , so it's time to buy some new stuff. I am also hearing about Stage 3 motors coming out soon. I also lightened the boady tonight. I cut off a lot of plastic on the mounts, and took off every piece I could. Any chance of RS making domestic bodies? I HATE IMPORTS! I'm about ready to make my own body. Anyway, I guess I cna't film any vids for a couple of weeks...

you may say but im not m scaleing speed but mph is miles per HOUR also to be wrong the right way(haha that sounded dumb)you would have to change miles to feet or inches also what you have to think about is its not completly scale such as wieght also a small car with an electric motor and areal car with a gas motor but neuro nice car do you sale motors? |

The motor that is in that car will probably be sold at the track tomorrow. I was running faster with four cells than my friend with a Team Orion Elite Stock on six cells, so now he wants my motor. :D
|
Yeah, but everyone wants that motor!
|
my GOD i would love to race that XMOD and hand your ass to ya!!! ( I spent 14 months tuning my mini Z)
Great work, do you find the battery clips lose their tension through heat??? Snipping off winds isn't really a good idea, as it lowers efficiency. Rewinding with thicker wire is much better!!! I use a TPD 130 27t ND magnet ball bearing motor, 8x2 FETS and 6 cells In a pack with low loss connectors. |

p.s. i dont type well whats that have to do with how much i know a genius might not type good and a hobo with a fourth grade education could type perfect it depends on if you need it and if you want to i think i type good enough to do what i need to do i dont mess up alot but i dont capitoliz or use periods but who cares?haha well whatever |
