so far I have motor and power wire upgrade with 6 cells to boost my spinbrush upgraded motor and to control it all I modified my controller with a boost button. lots and lots of weight reduction, an aluminum drive shaft. I tilted the rear wing forward a little, with the speed this thing has I think it might actually be functional. It goes 40ft. in 2.22secs. drag time

Bad Company 01-09-2004 03:40 PM

Very nice indeed! You can really see the changine effect more so than with most camelion type paints. What brand was it?

Good work!

jon.jon 01-09-2004 04:00 PM

Believe it or not its fingernail polish with the right mixture of fingernail polish and airbrush thinner youll get nice results and going over it with some fingernail clear and fingernail hardener and airbrush thinner youll have a combination that I believe is way more reliable than any paint Ive ever used. This was a rushed job and it still took 2 weeks or so for the color to harden and 1 week for the clear I first tried it on the zip zaps long ago,no chipping or peeling what so ever.

It looks like the kind of paint TVR uses nowadays.
Excellent.

danny_v_l 01-09-2004 11:10 PM

if your talking about the controller turbo button I just hooked 2 wires to the throttle trim and ran the wires outside from the first half of the controller then inside to the second half and positioned the button for my thumb so actually its the same as switching the throttle trim from high to low but only with the press of my thumb.

Shapewise, I like those better.

XMODSaretheBEST 01-10-2004 10:46 AM

Nice man. I painted my Skyline like that too but with Dupli Color Mirage paint (purple/green). But your car, you can esily see the color changing. NICE! Oh and where did you get those rims for the civic??

both came from the xmode wheel kit i trim and filed down the spokes to the shape i wanted

neurokinetik 01-10-2004 03:24 PM

Excellent job on both the paint and the wheels. Nail Polish of all things. Who'da thunk it?

I might have to do up a set of wheels like your second ones, only painted white. Then they will look like the wheels on my real car. :D

jon.jon 01-10-2004 05:26 PM

thank you all for the positive feedback. next Im going to try it on my honda civic as soon as I get a body kit and maybe when the weather warms up a little bit its too cold to have a fan in the window trying to ventilate all the fumes from the polish and thinner. the color on the civic is going to be purple, green and gray im going to try to get some blue in it too, but for now Im going to start working on a performance mod .neuro, mosfet mod sounds promising.

nobodyhere962 01-11-2004 12:12 PM

I believe those were the ENKEL from the wheel upgrade kit. But I had to hook them up to give them more of a YOKOHAMA look.

chiprico 01-14-2004 06:48 PM

looks good keep it up

food123 01-15-2004 03:37 PM

where'd you get the wire upgrade?

It was thicker ga wire that I had lying around the house. I used 18ga for the motor wires the battery and power wire is made up of 7 strands of 26ga. wire for a easier flow of power.

danny_v_l 01-15-2004 06:12 PM

do u have any more wheel mods, i like them alot, i mite have to leave ur car on cynder blocks lol jk, i mite use the idea tho

maxvelox03 05-13-2004 09:37 PM

The GTR is sweet man, you did an awesome job with that paint, and I think the wheels really go with that . . that looks like an r34 i saw in super street once . . . Nice work

jon.jon 05-13-2004 10:02 PM

thanks for the props I did my black civic the same way but its purple, green, and gray but since I need a chassis for my '69 cobra the civic became a donor I didnt have no use for the body no more so I tried to sell it on ebay I ended up with a non paying bidder. But Im thinking about putting it up for sale again soon.

skate_911 06-26-2004 08:36 PM

The color I used on the skyline is #08 amber ruby dont know the brand off top $4 a bottle at walmart. The color I used on the civic is made by Naturistics and is called flippin' $2 a bottle I poured polish in a 1/4 oz. bottle to the red line in the picture I used around 4-5 drops of airbrush thinner from the syringe looking thing you dont want it too thin but thin enough it wont clog the airbrush have a heat gun or a blow dryer that blows out hot air so just in case you make a mistake or put a fingerprint on it it will smooth it out you can use as many coats as you want use the blow dryer to smooth it out give it about a week to cure and youll be ready to ride. The good thing about this stuff it doesnt scratch crack or peel like paint for even more protection you can go over it with one coat of finger nail clear. I had rollovers wipeouts anything you can imagine that would scratch the paint up but the paint job still looks fresh :) Hope this helps any.

skklown 06-26-2004 10:10 PM

skate_911 06-27-2004 09:35 PM

Hey can You post a Tutorial on how You did Your Boost function. And The modifications You did to the controller to get it to work. Thanks

jon.jon 07-03-2004 05:54 PM

the only thing I did was add a button to control the high and low switch on the controller if you want a tutorial to that its gonna be a while cause Im swamped with lots of stuff and with tomorrow coming up it aint gonna make it any better but Ill try to do it for you.:)

JDM-R34 07-03-2004 08:18 PM

So all it is another button for Hi/Low Trim button whick is on the top of the controller, If thats the case it does look alot cooler than the plain black switch at the top of the controller? Is that what it is or is it controlling the boost of the 6 cells? idk

jon.jon 07-03-2004 08:31 PM

4.8v normal when I push the button 7.2v thats why I consider it as a boost button actual voltage may vary but theres a 2v gain when switching from low to high

JDM-R34 07-03-2004 08:48 PM

well I know Your probably busy but when You get the chance do You mind posting a tutorial on it. Thanks

A blast from the past gets a new makeover Veilside meets Wings West. This was my very first xmod that I painted and mod over a year ago. Now it doesn't have a chassis anymore but this car soon will be reborn. ;)
