I have a HUGE problem. the wire that is attached to intena broke off when i was changing engines. can someone tell me how to fix this possibly without the use of a sodder tool?

That same thing happened to me...and what i did is I took it down to my local Radio Shack...and they had a solder iron and just fixed it right in the store...if your Radio Shack doesn't have a soldering iron, and you do, look up on the internet on how to solder...then you can do it :D

RSXRacer001 11-26-2003 08:56 PM

did it cost any money when you did that?
thanks

SKYLINE_GTR_R34 11-26-2003 09:02 PM

Just get a cheap soldering iron kit. It will come in handy for future use.

RedRSX 11-26-2003 09:02 PM

No it was totally free...

RedRSX 11-26-2003 09:04 PM

My local Radio Shack has really cool employees...everytime something on it breaks or goes wrong they always fix it or order a new piece free of charge...cool:D

RSXRacer001 11-26-2003 09:20 PM

ok thanks...and by the way, how much to soldering kits cost and where can you get them? Lowes? Walmart? Radio Shack?

RedRSX 11-26-2003 09:22 PM

Yea you can get soldering irons at all of the places you just said...i think they are probably like $15-$20...im not sure....never bought one

RSXRacer001 11-26-2003 09:25 PM

thanks a lot

halo666 11-26-2003 09:25 PM

$15-$20 sounds right. soldering irons are really handy, a must have for RC tuning.

viperkilla 11-26-2003 09:29 PM

How hard is soldering and how do you use it?

SKYLINE_GTR_R34 11-26-2003 09:58 PM

Not very hard at all. Plug in or use butane gas. Heat up solder & it "drips" on the item. Then it cools & it is ready to use. It just takes a bit of practice, not much :D

viperkilla 11-26-2003 10:04 PM

Thanks for the info. What do you mean by it "drips" on the item?

RedRSX 11-26-2003 10:07 PM

the solder drips onto the area when the soldering iron touches it...solder it kinda like soft metal...image the solder as wax, and the soldering iron like a candle

SKYLINE_GTR_R34 11-26-2003 10:16 PM

I think one of the best ways to learn it is by doing it. Try to solder 2 wires together or something like that. It gets easier everytime that you use it.

Chrisman222 11-26-2003 10:24 PM

ya

the same problem has happened 2 me...bought lucky im @ my grandparents house 4 thxgivings and he has a Sauderer, im gonna fix it 2 morrow

Daazndood 11-26-2003 11:59 PM

i got my soldering iron for 3 dollors at best buys and its strong enough to melt the metal that you use to solder things.

RSXRacer001 11-27-2003 08:49 AM

Does the wires melt together or is there another substance that makes the wires and what ever else melt together?

Hairball 11-27-2003 10:20 AM

HA!

That happened to me, and I just took some of the wire insulation off, wrapped the exposed wire around the screw that holds the antenna in, and tightened it. Works fine.

RedRSX 11-27-2003 10:54 AM

The wires don't melt together...the solder is what melts and connects the 2 wires

Shiporu 11-28-2003 06:17 PM

Too bad there isn't anything that can "wield" plastic together... My car's body is shot to **** ....

racemini89 11-28-2003 06:20 PM

you could use a lighter, mold it, then sand and paint the body

RSXRacer001 11-30-2003 06:45 PM

would that work?
