I built an Xmod Track.
 

I will post this in the proper section too, but I thought I would post here to give everyone an idea what the track on the Xmods site would look like and the size comparison to the cars.

The cost for materials for the basic track as in the plans should be around $20.

The only changes I made was to increase the pipe size to 3/4" and add couplings in the 10' sections to make every straight piece 5'. That way I can change the configuration, transport, and store the pieces away easier. I also added the cross piece (bridge) to signify the start/finish line.

I plan on adding more bridges to the straight pieces sticking out to make it more secure for when a car runs into them, they will not move. I also bought a bunch of extra material and plan on making it bigger, and create some new tracks.

yeah thats nice! but dont the cars get stuck on the coplings??
you might be able to add electric tape and some fiber fill around the coulpings so then the cars will just slide off of them.

If you are one of those wall riders, I guess you would. This will teach you to learn to drive and stay off the walls. ;) :D

RS does reccomend duct tape for the joints, but I prefer not to tape them. The couplings are tight enough to hold together, and I can easily take it apart to move it or store it.

The total for the basic track that is in RS's plans will run around $20 at Home Depot. I bought extra pipe and fittings for different configurations, so it was little more for that.

do they have round pieces so yo can make a circle track and wide turns

No they didn't, you would just use a series of 45's to make a circle.

It is a little small for the top end stage 2 motors. I'm going to experiment with the lower end motors, and possibly some stage 1 motors. This will be a good test for the different suspensions and tie rods.

IMO, I would rather race on a somewhat tight course that demands skills rather than all out speed.

I can also add a few pieces to make it bigger.

just turn the throttle to lo on the remote, that will give u better handling in turns, and lower top speeds

good job, i have an idea what about a small bridge over the middle possible from wood and cardboard?:D

maybe i will make this and take it for after work racing between me and another guy

It would have to have a very slight incline with the ground clearance of these things. I'm thinking more portable with this, that way I can take it to the tennis courts and such.

Wow that track is awesome. How long did it take you to assemble? Now where are you going to park the "real" cars?

It took about 10 minutes the first time cuz I had to cut the 5' sections out of 10' pipe, but after that, it should only take about 5 minutes if even that. There is room for 3 cars to park next to it. The driveway widens at the fence.

hey BC, i too set up that RS suggested track last night, it was a blast w/ a drift motor stage 2....but i like you're change to it a lot as well...have fun with the track, i know i did.

i set up the long rs track today. cost me 4 bucks. the guy at the hardware store didnt charge me for any of the pipes. he thought he did though. its real fun to drive though and on my garage i was doing great drifts. i used the drag motor what does every one else use that has this track?

The xmods site did a great thing by putting up the plans for a track. I gotta clear out my garage my next day off and start on a track for this car. I'm thinking of using other materials though, I'm not too sure on the pvc piping, allthough for $20 I might try it.:p
