Finally I Got It The Secert To Father Reaching Zipzaps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
READ BOTTOM POST
|
That is the weirdest mod I've ver heard of....but very innovative, so Good work....
|
i swear it works great
|
So lemme get this straight before i do anythin distructive...I just yank out the antenna?
|
Maybe it's the alcohol but i'm not getting this. I'm assuming that's a pic of the controller. A lil more detailed info would be highly appreciated.
|
he's saying cut off the antenna and put a metal square there instead!!!!
|
I'm really sorry, but you are asking alot of the readers here to:
A) Understand your horrible spelling and grammar B) Understand what the heck it is you are trying to say. A "piece of metal"? A lead weight from an automobile's wheel is a piece of metal. So is a wedding ring, or a wing of an airliner. Please be more precise, and people will understand you better. |
yes that would be great if you can post a picture and explain it more clearly...i just dont get it

I’m sorry I was like so messed up last night LOL what I was trying to say is I took a piece of metal out of a bit-g (the piece that holds the battery) then I attached that to the antenna wire and it will go way farther, sorry I shouldn’t of posted last night lol but it does work I did it about a day ago sorry for not having a picture i hope all of you get this
|
It's still kind of hard to follow. Is that a pic of your controller or the car? A little more detail as well please.

My Interpretation
OK, here's what I think Fent is trying to say:
Judging from his drawing... It's supposed to be the back of an opened up Zip controller. The orangy-tan area is the curcuit board, the long grey area, on the left, is the antenna, the darker grey box is the piece of metal and the red is the wire connecting the circuit board and the antenna. To me it looks like he took a flat piece of metal (in this case, a battery connection tab from either a Bit chassis or a Bit controller) and soldered it into his Zip controller, between the telescopic antenna and the controllers circuit board. In other words, a wire leads from the Zip circuit board to the piece of metal, which is then connected to the controllers telescopic antenna with another peice of wire. ("After" pic) I think I got that right. Fent? In any case, I'll have to try it myself to see if it really works... |
i think that i sorta get it

i'm kinda confused |
DriveWRX thats what i ment it worked for my zipzap great go try this
|
i was skeptical but added that wire and metal piece and it doubled my range for both frequencies........Fent, good mod imo

It still doesn't make a lot of sense. If you open up the controller there is already a thin piece of meta attached to the antenna wire. That whole assembly then screws onto the base of the antenna. Just don't get what you're driving at.
|
ok u can do that with every type of wire just take any wire u have and rap it from the bottom of the intenna to the top and about 2.5 inces off the top the solution is b16 b24awgm :bdrop: :blift:

i ripped apart a N cell battery holder, almost any metal will work, but these already had wires attached to em....cut the spring off, i guess....
im guessing since the antenna is so short, that this little extension makes a big difference........but it works so well, im not complaining..... |
What you are doing is lengthening the feed wire going to the antenna, effectively lengthening the antenna itself.
I would wager that a piece of wire hanging off the end would probably give the same effect. That or simply using a longer telescoping antenna. The closer you get to a quarter-wavelength of the frequency in question, the better it will do. (in theory) Of course for 27Mhz, that is somewhere around a hundred inches or so! Higher frequencies would have shorter antennas, of course. That's one reason 27Mhz has limited range with these cars and 49 does so well. It's less antenna length to compensate for. The formulas for working out quarter-wave antennas are available at www.arrl.org (Amateur Radio Relay League) It's also a great place to learn about amateur radio in general! Tell 'em N2NLQ sent ya! ;) It's cool to see you make the discovery! On a different note... I was going to bark further about the horrible, tragic mangling of the english language on these forums, but it won't really change anything, will it? Just as long as you pick it up eventually. ;) |

amen to the slaughter of the english language...lol...:D |
I take the range doubling thing with a grain of salt too.
;) |
try it, you might get your controller to play a song too.........:D
|
Oh br-udda!
You'd love to get me all worked up and spazzy over that one again wouldn't you? :p I was thinking of that the other day. I wonder what became of all that? One guess: Nothing. |
