As for the winding, I have an idea. If i could find some kind of glue that would hold the wire's shape, i could make that little coil.

Not all imports use DOHC, some Subaru uses SOHC turbo, M-Benz use SOHC Kompressor, some Honda use SOHC VTEC. DOHC have the advantage of better breathing capability, and intake and exhaust can be individually tuned, but the trade off is weight, complexity and cost. OHV have lower specific hp, but they are cheap, easy to mod, and lighter compared to a similar displacement DOHC motor. The Chey LS6 in the Corvette Z06 kicks ass, even though it's OHV, it still made 71hp/liter.

Ok, back to rc tuning. I thought of that idea before, but when I wind the wires and test fit the armature, it doesn't fit, the wire is still to thick. Also, you will need those high temp glue for real car engines to withstand the heat this motor generates. I'll try to think of a way to fit the armature. Anyone got ideas? (Without using thinner wires of course)

how were all your methods onto opening the motor? Mine was get pliers to grip the motor from the side, turn the motor upside down and push and force down until tip pops out.

Guys I wanted to let everyone know that this statement is entirely False, where this individual got their info is beyond me. Actually on the contrary, we all think it's great to find new ways to void the manufactures warranty :D. Seriously though any new and fresh ideas on how to improve performance is always encouraged, it's one of the aspects of this hobby that keeps it interesting!
Keep hacking and have fun!

So, does that mean that it's completely allowed to show how to mod our Bits 'till it comes outta' their wazoo?!

So how did the motor go? :)

Racer9 03-19-2003 06:35 PM

working on a 1.0 at the moment but i will try rewinding on a crappy clone motor first!

Racer9 03-20-2003 02:59 PM

Some tuning made it run a 1.2 without removing any windings! WD40 is highly reccomended because then it ran like a 1.3-1.5 motor! It also cuts down on the noise level of your modded motor!:D   :p

hogjowlz 03-20-2003 03:16 PM

wow this sounds much better than a pod racer.

BillyP 03-20-2003 04:24 PM

Racer9: Did you put WD40 inside the motor?

That Pod Racer thread was great...

I am far from an expert but as I read through this, the original poster said he used a "digital speedometer" to measure the motors RPM's, like I said I am no expert but I thought you needed a Tachometer to measure Revolutions Per Minute. This could have been a typo but I thought I would ask. Oh and back in the day I tried to rewind a old pocketRocket and it was so off ballance it was scary.

hogjowlz 03-20-2003 05:07 PM

my friend has a strobe tachometer but it doesnt go up past 5000rpms i think but it is accurate for wheel rpms.

Racer9 03-20-2003 07:54 PM

on the ends not inside.

Racer9 03-21-2003 10:24 AM

I will try to do the rewinding the motors thong. I will try to remove 20-30 winds and I will attempt to balance it to!

Racer9 03-25-2003 03:52 PM

Has anyone else tried this yet? It actually does increse speed but you have to lube it to make it run quiet!

Racer9 03-31-2003 05:06 PM

Ha!
