also, what mini drill press do you usE?

scatmanjohn01 02-22-2004 04:49 PM

Also, on the u joints, how do you solder the stainless steel hex bar?

killer 02-22-2004 11:51 PM

scatmanjhon,
i'll see if i can take a clear picture of the geartrain.. as for the drill press, it's a small drill press found it on one of the electronic shop near my place it is used to drill elctronic boards but i modified it so it can drill thru tamiya steel hex shaft, it has a chinese writing on it.. must be the name of the drill?.. but i'll see if i can still find the box, and as for the tamiya hex shaft.. as far as i know they are not stainless, but i sand thm first, apply a liberal amount of flux and i use a 60W soldering iron.

sawhit4,
diffs really makes a big difference.. even in small scale rc, in terms of steerig radius.. but i prefer locked diff/spool because i do a lot of micro offroading.

scatmanjohn01 02-23-2004 09:51 AM

ok one more question killer, i dont say how in the heck your steering servo is setup. Can ya explain?

also how did you "modify" the mini drill press?

killer 02-23-2004 07:32 PM

1 Attachment(s)
i removed some parts of the the drill and beefed up some parts to prevent it from swaying side to side, because the drill bit should stay on the center of the point where i want to drill, additional bearings and higher amp (13+amp) viariable voltage power supply.. by changing voltage of the power supply i can achieve variable speed from a single speed drill ;)...

as for the steering the servo, if you will closely on the font, you'll see that the servo is lying down the chassis.

Would you sell that? or make one for me? How much is that worth? You make the best killer!

Racer9 04-02-2004 03:15 PM

I would buy one if it is not terribly expensive.

I would say about $400 more than you are willing to pay.
All of the TTTT vehicles here are handcrafted and very costly.

viperdout 05-26-2004 07:05 PM

I shouldn't of quoted that. I really ment if it was reasonable, considering work put into it.

sawhit4 05-26-2004 08:52 PM

people have asked before about killer making trucks for them. i believe he has said no before because he does this for the fun not to make money off it.

killer 05-27-2004 04:39 AM

thanks guys, i'm glad you liked my work, yes i'd love to make this truck available to all of those interested, and i would love to share the fun of having a micro all-wheel-drive truck i'm experiencing, but problem starts when i plan to ship this little critters!.. cost me almost twice the price i intend to sell these things, that's why i'd rather urge all of you to build your own and have fun with it ;).

MeanMarine 08-31-2004 01:24 AM

all the parts

where do you get all the parts to make a nice car like this, and how much does it cost. you should make a kit for people who want to be able to have an easy replica of your artwork.

sawhit4 08-31-2004 08:16 AM

most of killers parts he makes. axles chassis stuff like that he makes. you can check out www.tttparts.org (for the web address look at the post about it) and buy an entire car from there. you can use the converter at www.convertit.com to find out prices for other countries.

88swampedmj,

i put most of the pieces together by soldering them, i'm using 30 watts soldering iron for small parts and 60 watt for bigger parts, i use a hand drill (with cutting disc) to scuff the parts to make the solder stick well and a little soldering paste!

i'm currently working on my 1/32 4x4 r/c version of juggernaut j.r.

(here's the pic of model truck i'm using, a tamiya 1/32 wild mini-4wd monster truck )

http://tamiya.com/english/products/l...img/17014m.jpg

but this time no more multi-link suspension.. i kept it simple but very effective torque tube suspension system..

http://www.west-4x4.demon.co.uk/flexsusp.gif

just like the suspension found in a real unimog trucks!
