Thanks micro. I had to go get a microsizer pro so I could try the 4.2 with a single cell booster (no mosfet though). They were only 19.99 at the local toys r us. These motors seem even more insanely fast in a booster! I can't wait for the mosfet mod! WOO HOO!:D

MICRO AMPS?

one question, how many amp of power dos your mod allow to flow before burning out. the problem is i want to run a 1.2ah 130 size motor with my bit-electronics, and the only way i know is to go with relays. could you prob stack the mosfets for more flow?

Rmyc, the absolute max on these fets is 4.2 amps but you would need to cool them at this current because they will cut out if the heat is not dissipated.
Yes you can stack these fets, just as with any fets, it increases the current carrying capacity and reduces the resistance.

Has anyone tried this mod on a LXX booster PCB ? How does the torque and speed compare to a MS PRO/BIT Booster PCB ?

I've done this on an Lxx booster and it works well. The lxx will never compare to the original tomy booster but you now get a car that is worth driving. The lxx booster pre-fet was crap, you needed a 3.8 motor in it to be able to do anything.

Yes JackD the mod does work on an Lxx. I have put this mod into most of the different clones available.
The Lxx boosters seem to have a lower 'unboosted' speed so a higher speed motor is needed to get the thing going. Once it is fet modded, with a 3.8 in it the car zips along quite well. The Lxx's generally require a bit of 'tuning' when you get them. The steering is sometimes a bit average, the gears are noisey, but with a bit of TLC they turn out alright.
Modded performance is comaprable to an MS Pro/BCG booster because after the mod is done they both have the same components running the motor (the FET H-bridge) which propells both cars to roughly the same speed. The Lxx still has a slightly lower unboosted speed tho. Its not a bad option considering the price difference, it is the only way to get a booster without paying the full price for the MS/Tomy product.

Yeh, that should work fine. Just watch the polarity of the L & R steering wires and the motor wires. They will work either way, but you may find your steering opposite and forwards/backwards is reversed, just change over the wires if that happens.

My Fairlady Z made it back from micro_Amps in Australia the other day. I have tried it a few times now. Once as it was (see signature), then added teal gears, and then added a 4.2 motor. All I can say is WOW! This is the first car I have that will do a wheelie, even with the 4.2! It drives like my two cell booster zip zap now (not quite as fast), I can use the boost to get the back end to come around in the turns. I got his new version that puts all the mosfets on the same side of the board. This reduces the number of wires needed. It also eliminates the wires running from one side of the board to the other. That was my biggest concern with the mod, having those wires running over the edge, left a spot that could get damaged doing a pcb swap or other work. Now only two wires are needed, and they are tucked neatly in the center of the pcb. Great work micro_Amps, I love this mod!

Check my signature for speeds before and after this mod. It is the best mod you can do for single cell cars. No idea on the digi q, I don't have one.

also , Why didnt tomy use mosfet in there initial design? was it to restict speed so people would buy the faster motors or was it becasue it can be dangerous for the motors?!
