It really is the best way to go as far as the combination of design and drafting. I love it.

dustn 02-17-2003 02:00 AM

Just won the auction on a tomy pullback! Got it for $8.30 shipped. Thats good right?

freakanoid 02-17-2003 04:23 AM

well

i dont think its a good price i got mine from ebay for $4 shipped. which one did u get.

dustn 02-17-2003 11:10 AM

Skyline 2000gtr... Its the cheapest one i could find. The others were all "buy now" for 5.95 and then shipping was $4, so i got better than that. Ps, i searched for "tomy pullback" what should i search for?

Spanky 04-29-2003 12:48 PM

I need solidworks!! hehehe.. where can i find it. i think i can convince work to get a few licenses... weve got a slush fund for trying new software..

T_T_52 04-30-2003 09:53 AM

The CAD picture is cool and looks fast. I need a CAD to do this kinda stuff.

Spanky 04-30-2003 10:03 AM

thats not cad. thats solidworks... solidworks provides a more accurate 3d rendering or an easier to use 3d modeling feature...

dustn 04-30-2003 01:12 PM

well technically it is cad, just not autocad. Solidworks also has a drafting feature along with the 3d modeling that will make a 2d drawing (of any view) out of your 3d part or assembly. It automatically does hidden lines and dimensioning is a breeze.

Spanky 04-30-2003 03:35 PM

true. CAD (computer aided drafing or drawing or design...depending on the circle you live in) I work on AutoCAD daily.. and its commonly called CAD. hence the confusion.. Ive been with 3 different firms. all of which have used autocad.. ahhh i remember the days of the digitizer and puck... ahh so much fun playing in R10. anyway it was my oversight.

time to search for the solidworks website to find out if this program renders on the fly...

dustn 04-30-2003 04:52 PM

it does to an extent. the newer version than i have might do it better, but mine just colors stuff in. It slows it down a whoooole bunch

oh n i m gonna strech my bitchar-g so i can put a dubcity body on it but i dunno how to do it can u help me? thanx

dustn 10-30-2003 10:08 AM

bttt

how are you guys doin?

TuRbO_GuY_69 10-30-2003 02:33 PM

I dont know whos this is, i justfound it on sigmaautomotive.com.
the body is immaculate:eek:! it looks like a cross b tween a Skyline and a Lamboghini! its a shame about the color though, it woul b nicer in dark metallic blue or dark yellow. If some 1 has a translator, pleeze post a translation of the description!

(sorry about not posting a direct pic, i dont know how 2 host pics:o )http://www.tomy.co.jp/bit_charg/dress/dress_p1.htm

PS its No.10, right down the bottom

Swavey 10-31-2003 02:47 AM

Dustn, you stopped updating us on the progress of this chasssi you were building! Whats the status of it? if you dont mind my asking :P

viperkilla 11-02-2003 06:40 AM

ripper7777777 can you post a tutorial on how to make those cars like in your picture?

strakka 11-06-2003 04:01 PM

 theres a jdm integra type r in that link!

whats up swavey?:D

Softspike321 11-07-2003 05:48 PM

I just figured I would post this for fun.... I have a couple of these, take me a day or so to do :p if I rush.....
I believe I am the first to use this design....

strakka 12-11-2003 03:51 PM

No, heh that RSX has long since been retired... that chassis was a terribly design, I have long since perfected my technique.. I will post up pics of my latest chassis in a day or so. I shaved the WHOLE thine, so every single line is curved and smooth :p

I will never mod a chassis with walls again.....
I am also working on a battery pack system, that will allow me to swap between single, dual or tripple cell in seconds :D

check this out, I recently did this. I took a clone chassis, and
I cut it in half, and then i used some scrap plastic and plastic cement
to fill in the gap once i extended it to the desired length, then i melted
all the plastic togetherto make sure it was strong, then i modified the
tabs, to fit a ZZ body...i thought it was pretty cool.

-=CrAnSwIcK=- 12-12-2003 03:20 PM

God another one done....... workin on makin it hot-swappable between single, dual, and tripple cell without chassis modification in between.... :D

My twin babies! heh

Note: The one on the right is the newest one, and has had every single solid edge or corner sanded off and is silky smooth!! :p still workin on the rear...

viperdout 12-14-2003 02:04 PM

My school has a CAD club, where you can build anything you want. I am starting a streched clone with as many batteries as I can fit. My question is, should I use balsa wood, or plexiglass, or lexan for the streched segment, and what to use for a body?

Hey, i extended my clone chassis about the same time i knew about this forum...once i looked at some other designs, i realized, why the hell did i leave walls on the side?? it's just extra weight, and a pain in the a$$ to work around, (i dunno if we can swear on here or not) so i cut the walls out, and noticed it was a bit flimsy, cause it had two seams along the bottom, where i extended it, so i added some tiny walls, to strengthen it a bit...so here it is, and i'm still looking on some input, for a dual cell mod, and maybe some others, i work on my PCB so mods that include soldering are welcome, thanks

-=CrAnSwIcK=- 12-14-2003 05:24 PM

oh yeah, and has anyone ever had the little metal tab on the back of a clone motor snap off?? lol, well i did, and it pissed me off, oh well, stock clone motor no biggie!!

Swavey 12-15-2003 01:13 AM

Good work dude... heh no walls................ A genious must have though of that idea!!!! :D :D :D

*blush*

 Swavey

-=CrAnSwIcK=- 12-15-2003 12:09 PM

Oh, crap, i totally forgot to thank the genius who inspired me to cut out my walls :P Lol, thanks swavey...I like your work :)

Swavey 12-18-2003 05:12 AM

I have grown very proud of the job I have done to this Skyline... Everytime I see it, it manages to look better and better....

The rims are my main pet peve right now, but I went a step further on the underbody to make it fit and hold really good, like it was made like this :p

If you want a Full Size pic, go to: http://members.shaw.ca/blinnstudios/SkylineR34.jpg

Hope yall like it.... please post coments and such if you have them....

:p Swavey :p

DraGula 12-18-2003 03:55 PM

whoa thats sweet
could you just extend a chassis by adding a spacer between the motor well and the rest of the chassis? I wanna do that.

btw dont drink and solder

t-squared 12-19-2003 03:51 PM

won't extending the chassis by adding a spacer between the chassis and motor thingy be harder then lengthing the area between the steering and chassis?....since that's where the charging thingy is...

or, if you were talking about adding a plate kinda thingy, like on miniz, so you have suspension.....then...you'll have to make a different way to mount the body......

.....ignore everything I just typed...

Correction... heh. I never use a dremel on my chassis.... only on bodies :p :p

/me wonders if I should take offence to that.... ;)

:D Swavey :D

-=CrAnSwIcK=- 12-29-2003 03:05 PM

I use a butane heated soldering iron, and it comes with a knife attachment, and i use that to cut plastic, works alright, but it's more fun than anything...i love melting stuff :) and for my bodies, i use a steady hand, and exacto, and fine grit sand paper...I wanted a dremel for christmas, but that bastard santa clause at the mall must not have been paying attention... grrr.. prolly pre-ocupied with the young boy sitting on his lap?? oh well, maybe next year...
