I remember it... it is true. Just make sure we are the first to see all these other zz's.

;)

Just Playing

Edit - I just realized how long ago I registered here. I can't beleive I still play with these things.:D

Yup, I can second this. I remember you getting the very first ones overnighted to you as soon as the Shack got them in stock.

Some new info from CJ...

60-7058 HULK CHEVY 27MHZ $24.99
60-7060 SPIDERMAN HUMMER 27MHZ $24.99

The first page has been updated.

Are these regular Zips or SEs? Seems like they would be SEs at that price.

Namuna 09-07-2004 04:29 PM

My understanding is they'll be Monster Trucks.

Also, if anyone hasn't already seen them:

Dodge Viper SE (in red)
Dodge Viper SE (in black)

Jtskty 09-07-2004 04:34 PM

Does anyone have pics of the trucks or the monster truck tire kit? I am waiting on these before I start my off roader.

Bad Company 09-07-2004 05:45 PM

Well, I called today and nothing has been released yet. It seems my "contact" is no longer employed there, hence why she stop calling me. And I thought it was becuase I came on to her. ;)

None the less, nobody else is willing to make personal favor phone calls. :( Guess they all heard about me. Oh well, I will bug the you know what out of them everyday then...

Jtskty 09-07-2004 06:52 PM

Ah, man. I am waiting to make my off roader for when they bring these out. I dont wanna wait any longer.

Do you have rs on speed dial? :p

Here's some info (and a pic) of the upcoming Monster Trucks...They look kinda cool!

Article pic

mshkttck 09-08-2004 01:55 PM

wow

its hard to believe those are zipzaps. looks cool. From what I can see, theyve got a transfer gear, and 2 axles stacked on top of each other under there!

Jtskty 09-08-2004 04:37 PM

Can you post a direct link to the article and show where they say that that pic is of zip zaps?

Namuna 09-08-2004 05:18 PM

Hmmm, that's interesting...Looks like they either moved or removed the article!

...But at least the pic still works.

Jtskty 09-08-2004 05:20 PM

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. I was thinking I was missing it.

Edit - I just emailed them about it.

Edit number 2 - He just replied with a one word reply. He said "removed". Radioshack probably got on them about it.

Edit number 3 - I looked at a cached version of that page from september 6th and I still cant find the article. Here is a link. I just found a cache from september 5th and it is not on there either. I am guessing that was to early.

richh 09-08-2004 11:11 PM

well back to the viper (that is if anyone is still interested in them after seeing how they turned out :D ). both the red and black ones are now on the rs web site. the black is in stock for both phone in and web sales. the red one shows out of stock.

vipers

Here's the text from that article:

Radio Shack along with Harper Motorsports (Carolina Crusher) will air a new television commercial this fall. The commercial features the Carolina Crusher monster truck throughout Radio Shack’s new product line of Zip Zaps. The Radio Shack Zip Zaps feature authentic monster truck paint schemes in 1:64th scale. Filming for the commercial took place in the Dallas / Fort Worth, Texas area early last week. Although the shooting only took a few hours it required a lot of hard work by many.
Four of the new Zip Zaps include Monster Patrol, Bigfoot, The Hulk and Spiderman. The photo to the right are of pre-production models created by Mikes Hobby Shop Superstore in Carrollton, Texas.

As of now a date has not been set on the actual release date for the Radio Shack commercial. A release date on when the Zip Zap trucks will launch for retail sale is also unknown at this time.

Circle R media was the company responsible for the Radio Shack commercial shoot. Circle R media is located in Fort Worth, Texas.

Thanks for the info about the article. I will email the guy who reported the article and see if he has any better pics he can spare.

Edit - I just realized that is the guy who I already emailed. I guess we wont get any more pics from them. :o

I can't wait. :blift:

Sdog 09-13-2004 04:32 PM

Those monster trucks look pretty fun....and there won't be any issues with the bodies being jacked up too high :D

By the price, you would think they would have the SE electronics. However, these things look like they got a lot more to them, so it could be the OG ZZ internals....then again, could have completely different electronics all together.

Looking forward to seeing these hit the stores.

Azimov 09-14-2004 04:37 PM

The Ford GTs are up on the Radio Shack site now.

Namuna 09-14-2004 05:47 PM

Thanks Az.

Here is the direct links to their pictures:

Ford GT White

Ford GT Blue

And, IMO, they're just as butt-ugly as the Viper. :(

A Bit Off 09-14-2004 06:14 PM

They look more Mustang than the Mustang!

Racer9 09-14-2004 06:52 PM

Too short but I might buy one because my SE is crappy. I would get a Blue one. Then get a White body!

Sdog 09-14-2004 09:09 PM

UGH! the Ford GT is definitely a favorite car of mine....but that version is just down right disappointing.....oh well.

richh 09-14-2004 09:12 PM

just go the black viper that i ordered from the rs web site last week. body is still doesn't look like the real deal in person, but and this is a big but...

the chassis is noticeably faster than my mucscle car se's. did anyone else get one and can they confirm this? i need to do some more investigating (like swap motors), but if rs did make a change and it's not some fluke, this is a huge improvement. steering by the way is similar to the gto's i have. equal steps left and right and no stutter.

Well that is an interesting finding. Let us know what you come up with.

GuiltyEnder 09-14-2004 10:03 PM

I wonder if anyone is going to get this..

Sdog 09-14-2004 11:15 PM

Only if RS comes out with a wheel kit that suits that Hummer body. The wheels are waaaaaay too small.

RS is dropping the ball big time with a lot of the new offerings we have seen so far. However....they get big props for the new corvette past and present kit. The '63 split window looks great from what I can see:

Hmmm... what's the deal with this ->

http://www.radioshack.com/search.asp?find=60-7542

http://www.radioshack.com/images/Pro...0/l60-7542.jpg

Is it larger than the old pit carrying case?

don't know if it's bigger, but the top section has moveable partitions so "compartments can be adjusted to fit different sized cars". (the upcoming monster trucks).

The thing is, the older pit carrying cases ( http://www.radioshack.com/search.asp?find=60-7510 )also have the moveable partitions. I'm wondering if maybe this case is a bit larger, hard to tell by the pictures 'tho.

Man, I always wish that RS would have carried a case that was about four times larger than the original LOL! -:)

the movable partitions on the older case were in the bottom or the top half? from the pics, it looks like the new case has them in the top (clear) half for sure, maybe in the bottom half too.

well i swapped motors and the viper chassis was still faster. i then compared the stock viper to an older se with the nos motor and the viper was still quicker off the line!. the viper chassis with the nos motor was crazy fast; hard to keep the car from flipping. i definitely think rs made some changes. of course this is on a sample of one. i'm gonna wait till the ford gt's show up and get another.

cross your fingers folks... if this pans out, this is a pretty significant improvement.

In both of my older pit cases (60-7510), they have the removeable partitions in both the upper and lower halves.

If this is true...I may just have to pick up a Ford GT.

Well, 1 step forward (with fixing the PCB setup) and 1 LEAP back (with the UGLY new bodies).

...Still, that's exciting stuff if they did fix it.

richh What is the date code (on the bottom of the package) of your new Viper SE?

Racer9 09-15-2004 06:18 PM

Once I get some more money ($5) i am getting a Ford GT. Which color should I get and when do think the bodies themselves will be available? I want the Navy one but the White is growing on me. I can't get the Navy yet because no one has them at all. They all have the white ones. I might just get the white one tonight and get a blue body later.

BTW You can order the white one online.:D
