They look ...short. MM didnt shorten the cars did they? Are they EXACT replicas of the die cast versions ( bodies)?

I picked up the orange / white `69 camaro at my LHS today, they finally got some in :D sadly no mustangs :(

first impression: wow is it loud! lol...

something extremely unique to this car, the steering is done with a small motor and is setup like a mini-z's steering servo! No more magnets to bust off!

That also means that dual celling the car will be hard / impossible if you want it inside the shell, maybe if you used a PT cruiser body or something.

the car's balance is off because of this motor, the steering motor sits in the middle of the chassis with the battery on the passenger side, this makes steering in that direction tighter. It would be possible to dual cell it and balance out the chassis, but the hold down for the steering motor is on the drivers side and takes up a lot of landscape.

I dont feel like taking a picture at the moment, but I'm sure I will later, this car is different on the inside to say the least!

p.s. its the same length as my die-cast 1/64th MM cars

I have also been checking Wal Mart and Target here....nothing. I refuse to buy a set of 4 cars from onestop.

it sounds like the steering from the "Micro RC"/Kidriffic cars they have a pistol grip remote

they have a bit sized motor turning gears to steer but the motor is on the side

the rear end of the cars suck though so I cut it in half put a bit rear end on it with fullsize bit wheels and a silver suv body off the 4x4 trucks

so is there any know place to pick these up other than the internet

they kinda suck out of the box but for modding they are ok they have hard wired motors and non interchangeable gears

they are not that fast to start mabie a 2.6 at most but I think the simplicity of the pcb makes it able to handel more batteries I think I saw one that was covered in batteries on gere

I kinda cut it up to make the suv but I can show you that it has the same pcb in it and the same steering

as I said earlier the rear end of the car is not interchangable at all and the batteries go in a separate compartment under the car

I just picked up 2 at my local Wal Mart. I got the 66 Mustang, and the Charger. Steerings a little shaky but that can be fixed. Overall I like them. Nice to see some American muscle cars in the form of rc! :cool:

An interesing side note is that my local Wal MArt also had a rc car based on the Crazy Taxi video game. I saw it and was like wtf :eek: It looked pretty cool!

Alright, knowing that it uses a motor-drive for steering, I'm lookin to buy.

r.c.dealer, is there any kind of stock item number? I'd rather call my Walmart first before making the trek.

Don't no if it has a stock item number. My Wal Mart only had about 9 of the MM's. There wasn't even a little tag thingy on the shelf, I didn't know the price until they were wrung up. Looked like they had just put them outas I have never seen them there until today. Wal Mart sells them for 14.99. This past Monday they redid the entire toy section and expanded it. Your best bet would be just to call them to see if your Wal Mart has them in stock.

Has anyone posted pics of the Street Tuners (z) yet? I have been looking around on the various boards hoping someone dropped the bomb shell but so far nada. BTW RC DEALER....did the hobby people site carry the Street Tunerz for sale or just the regular muscle machines?

Went to Wally World and was able to pick up a 69 Charger, green. I just got done taking a bunch of pics (I'll have them up shortly), wanted to throw in a few comments first.

On a scale of 1 to 5; 1 being the lowest and 5 highest, here's my scoring so far...

Steering/Control (Score: 1)
Yes, it uses a Motor, but it's a sort-of hybrid between motor/gear driven steering, and still uses the centering spring (like from a Bit). Out of the box the car steers HARD to the left, and even using the trim all the way over doesn't help. It's going to take some modding to get that steering working properly.

Speed (Score: 4)
This thing is putting out a good amount of speed (can't say about torque yet, only ran it on hardwood).

Styling & Looks (Score: 5)
Very nice detailing, both on the chassis and the controller. The mark of good detailing is how close can you get to it before it doesn't look so good anymore...Get right up on this Charger and it still looks REAL nice. Also, these cars look like a shrunk down version of the real thing, no distortion in scaling here. Only negative thing I could say is that the blower on the hood of the chassis is a bit overkill for me, but since it's screwed on, it wouldn't take much to redo the hood.

Portability (Score: 3)
These Muscle Machines R/C cars have a nice little feature with the Controller/Charger (more details will be seen in the pics when I post them). The kit comes with a battery case with a power port on top. When charging the car, the power port plugs into the bottom of the car. Then when you're ready to race, pop the batter case right into the controller. There's no mounting the car to the controller to carry nor a belt clip on the controller though.

Overall Score: 3
I can't give a higher score because the steering is just horrible, if you're intent on just looks though, then I have no problem recommending it. Pictures coming shortly.

I have a couple of the red 66 Mustangs (I have a real life one too), and the information about these MM-RC's is almost non-existant. I want to bring up a couple of things that I have noticed and maybe we can get some good discussion going on them.

I have seen the battery mod for the Bits and it says that you can replace the normal battery with a 13AAA NiMH battery. These MM-RC's already come with a 15AAA 120mAH NiMH battery. There is also enough room to put another battery right next to it (dremel the plastic out next to the steering motor and glue the steering motor in... viola! The perfect spot for a 2nd battery). It would also seem that the 45 second charge time doesnt do this battery justice. From what I have read, you need at least 5 consecutive charges to get a full charge on that type of battery. Interesting.

Next is the antenna. It is a fully telescopic antenna and is capable of up to ~20' in range. It seems like this is a better idea than the single wire that comes with some other cars. I bring this up because there is a mod to make your controller have a telescoping antenna for other mini-RC's. Nice to have it there already.

Tires is the last thing I want to mention right now. The tires are a little hard on these compared to normal MM's, but they seem to be a little more durable. I dont know how to make them more sticky, but it seems like they are stickier than some others. Could be my imagination though :)

In summary, you get a car that can drive for 20-30 minutes, has a great range, is fast (even faster if you get a 2nd battery for it), and has good, responsive steering ... all for under $15 bucks. The only downside I see is the pull it has when going straight. I dont know how to fix that other than the switch on the bottom. Sometimes you get a good one, and sometimes you get one that pulls to one side or the other pretty serious.... it varies car to car.

I want people to at least check them out (Walmart doesnt as questions if you want to return them). Hopefully more people will get into them and get into more serious modding with them :)

WOW these are cool. ive been away from the board for a few months.. and i must say, i am shocked with all the cool stuff thats been brought to the shelves.. anyway i dont think i will be buying anymore cars.. i have a big a$$ rubbermaid bucket full with them already.

i do like these wheels, and also noticed that the MM stars and stripes edition may have red tires on some of the cars. no they are not r/c cars, but would still look cool...

are the tires on the r/c MM interchangable with regular MM's?

I agree with lord nick on how far out the wheels stick out from the chassis on my mod. i have re-built my front wheels so they only stick out half as far. either way they look good with that VW bug body...

i would really like to see the results of one of these dual cell'd. and then maybe subjected to the HP test that Namuna did last spring.
