Bad Company 05-15-2003 04:42 AM

Thanks Azimov, I guess I will keep trying my local Wal Marts.

Lord_Nick_D 05-15-2003 02:53 PM

I hope they are coming to canada I would buy one in a heartbeat (if I had money)

hogjowlz 05-16-2003 11:56 AM

have any of you tested to see if these controllers would control a tomy 49mhz booster pcb?

Buzzbait 05-16-2003 12:02 PM

I'd tried to control my 27MHz Awesome car with my 27MHz Microsizer Pro controller, and visa versa, and no luck.

MadScott 05-16-2003 12:52 PM

Just an FYI, I tried finding them on the Wally world website to no avail. Looks like its all up to finding them in the store. Every freaking walmart that I've been to in central CA has had them so far.

Turboas 05-16-2003 02:05 PM

I bought a 27 mhz lancer and the rear just skips and studdards around. There is soo much wheel hop it is hard to control. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas on a fix?

Azimov 05-16-2003 02:15 PM

I'm hopin a good set of slot car tires will solve these issues. I think most of them are a matter of traction. I'm getting the same results including a lot of spinning and fishtailing. I'm testing on lenoleum, so that could be why I get a lot of spinning. New tires should do the trick, but weight may need to be added to the back as well. I hope not. I have an old Tyco 440 frame lyin around here with good sticky tires on it, but these suckers are too wide. Especially the front ones. I'm gonna have to go find a TJet or something and leave it up on blocks when the owner ain't lookin. I may try the Tyco tires anyways since I already have them.

Spanky 05-16-2003 04:36 PM

if they are too wide why not just cut them in half?

Turboas 05-16-2003 05:52 PM

Please lemme know if you find a way to reduce the wheel hop. I really like this little car. I don't have alotta of RC stuff, so if you find something that works that I can buy PLEEEAASE tell me. Thanks.

vtheo 05-16-2003 06:22 PM

nope mine didnt have them either... but i saw a sticker labeling the empty shelf above it that said "ir remote racer" these were in the hotwheels section away form the rc cars, inculding the other motorworks.

Well, the tires are on a solar powered slot car I made a couple years back. I just hate to destroy it, even though I don't have a track or anywhere else to play with the slot car. Still, I eyeball it all the time for them tires and rims.

Lord_Nick_D 05-16-2003 08:50 PM

hey thats cool take off the pin at the bottem and it will be like a kit racer and you will be able to run it off the track

Buy a cheap slot car I have one from when I was younger that i want to take the tires off of but they are too small for my bit

Spanky 05-19-2003 05:48 PM

sounds like you need to rubber cement the wheels.... just make sure you clean your running surface.... otherwise they will pick up everything...

rubber cementing makes them super sticky...

Here's what the motor bay looks like. Note the intricate gearing. There's 4 gears that fit in that tiny place!

Azimov 05-19-2003 10:02 PM

Thanks for the PICs! I've been reluctant to tear into my one and only car. These things really are well made. I hope they expand the product line in the future.

viperkilla 05-20-2003 02:06 PM

wooo...are there 4 batteries in that car?!?! that's awesome

vtheo 05-20-2003 02:45 PM

four?, i only see 2

Impreza WR reX 05-20-2003 04:35 PM

No, there are 2 batteries, 4 gears + 1 gear on the axel + 1 pinion gear. In all, 6 gears!!! The turning system is actully very nice. I just added some bigger tires to mine, these things are so FAST!!!. Pics to come soon...

Racer9 05-20-2003 04:36 PM

Yes only 2 I will buy one soon.

Racer9 05-20-2003 04:37 PM

How do the gears work? I wanna see. Does it really improve a lot?

Impreza WR reX 05-20-2003 09:54 PM

Here's my improved version w/ new (much larger) tires. The gears are really messed up. I don't quite understand the purpose of all those gears in there, but they seem to act like a slipper clutch to aviod gear stripping from changing from forward to reverse at high speeds. Also, changing tires does nothing to fix the wheel hop, it's all in that weird gearing system (which, by the way, is the reason these are so loud). I'm going to see if I can take 3 or 4 of them out of there without any adverse effects.

Azimov 05-21-2003 06:20 AM

How's traction with these new tires? I still don't see much wheel hop in mine, just a whole lotta spinning.

viperkilla 05-21-2003 02:12 PM

Azimov u know that piece of tape on the suspension bar....did you put that there or was it already there?

Azimov 05-21-2003 03:05 PM

It was already there. It has a tangle of micro thin steering wires under it.

Impreza WR reX 05-24-2003 12:33 PM

The traction is great, but I still haven't figured out a way to kill some of those gears which are causing the wheel hop.

TheMechanic 05-24-2003 03:22 PM

Azimov,
Will the HO slot car bodies fit on these new cars?
I have some older bodies that I would love to put back into use.
I have a Nomad wagon, a Falls Guy Chevy truck, and a few others that I didn't want to chop up to fit a ZZ or MS cars.

Azimov 05-24-2003 04:15 PM

Yep, they fit very well. The Johnny Lightning cars are exactly the same size. The only problem I've run into is that some bodies aren't deep enough to accept the PCB. Your Nomad should work very well. The JL bodies are the slimmest of the lot and Tyco and other brands may fit even better. I have several very nice bodies I bought from e-bay some time ago ( A '70 charger, '70 GTO, '69 Camero, '70 SS Chevelle...). I was disapointed when I got them since there was no way to cram them onto a Zip. These Awesome cars are just the ticket for these bodies.

isk8blind 05-24-2003 05:23 PM

i guess im gunna have to pick one of these up 2morrow! is it just me or do these bodys look retarded? can you change the gears and motor? is the motor hardwired? BTW i like ICP too.

viperkilla 05-24-2003 06:16 PM

my walmart sucks...it doesnt even have them in stock....oh well :(

I wonder if you can look up stock by using the UPC number on the packaging of the Awesome cars to see if they would come up on a search at Walmart.com. Just a thought.

TheMechanic 05-25-2003 09:32 PM

Thanks Azimov, next stop Wally-World:D

Impreza WR reX 05-27-2003 08:27 PM

You might just have to wait a little while. My walmart JUST got in the new motorworks, which other walmarts have had for some time now. Try ebay or search google for some internet stores, or ask someone on the forums to send you one in exchange for something. Since these are relatively new, they might be hard to find in some places. Walmart usually gets shipments of stuff in on sunday nights I believe, so your best bet would be to go once a week every monday or something and checking, they'll get them in eventually.

charliebrown 06-08-2003 04:55 PM

What's the name of these cars? I mean the ones you first posted pics of. I.E. Radio Sahck has ZIPZAPS, Bud's H.o. Cars has MICRO SIZERs, and walmart has.....

ViperKid 06-08-2003 04:58 PM

Awesome RC

that's the only name i see

charliebrown 06-08-2003 05:29 PM

By the way you said the store was wally world? weird....look at this!

(charlie Brown edit) I know that was a mistake thank god I deleted it otherwise I would've been banned...Good ol' Charlie Brown getting banned from a site, that would be scary!!! )

viperkilla 06-08-2003 07:15 PM

that is *&^%in messed up

ViperKid 06-08-2003 07:27 PM

Tiny you need to delete that..i thought it was a store.. i didn't know it was porn:mad:

Lord_Nick_D 06-08-2003 07:27 PM

ya can you not post things like that
I'm going to get introuble because my parents will think I visited that site

charliebrown 06-08-2003 07:57 PM

not any more..look at the post and the evidence has disappea--- oops!

(Charlie Brown edit) Another thing that would be scary and inappropriate, CB looking at that stuff, I have to respect Mr.Schulz's wishes, but back on the topic: So those cars have gear shifts or something? Yeah the turbo button from 12:1 gear ratio to 1:1 gear ratio :D
