We do sort of a "King of the Mountain" on the coffee table. Nice slick surface, so when you hit another bit, they slide and spin. And it's not too high off the floor.

Also, rally races on a bedspread laid out on the floor with a few small pillows or t-shirts underneath to make varying terrain. Then just mark out a loose course with masking tape. This works best with our clones with MS 1.6 motors in them. MONSTER TORQUE for climbing, but controllable speed.

I do Drag, Rally, and Slolom. And all-out ass kicking when my friend who runs mostly 1/10 scale brings his MS. :)

I would do loose road-course and monster-truck. But I don't have a track yet, and my monster-MS wasn't really worth it.

i like the technical course. i'm building one right now its small but is still hella fun. . . and the problem i found with drag racing is its hard to start at the same time and since there's only one gear its who ever starts first

Finally got the OK from my wife to build a track. Getting the stuff today. I'm thinking high speed oval with a technical road course in the middle, and share the front straight and first turn. Kinda like some real tracks. I'll just use a temp barrier like cones to block off the part we're not racing on.

Yo midgetman, you changed your avatar. Did you finally get your cast off?

batesjm 02-24-2003 11:27 AM

To make my track I got a peice of 4x8 plywood and screwed some peices of 2x2 to the sides to outline the plywood. Then i got a 1x6 and cut it into half inch strips of various lengths. Finally i got some short brads and put them into the strips, this keeps them in place. When I want to change the layout of my track from an oval to a technical track i just pull up the strips in the center and hammer the layout i want in place. Ill try to post pics later.

You'll feel it again next winter when it gets cold. Broken many myself (14 all together).

Back on topic:
I'm starting on my track tonight. 4x8' masonite, 5/8" oval flex tubing. Thinking about using the tack-in idea so I can change the layout when I want to.

I'm only out $17 for supplies! The track cost less than my MS.

midget_man1387 02-24-2003 06:33 PM

lol, thanks for the tip, i'll remember that lol.

as for the track, i love the idea, make sure to post pics through construction!
