I always thought the D stood for Drift, like a play on Inertial Drift = Initial D.

i thought it meant "initial drive"...

i'm pretty sure initial d stands for initial drift. if anyone has played the arcade game as much as i have, you'll see where the drift comes in...hehe i own 6 cards. truenos rule.
