Do you mean "1/8" and 1/4?
I just put the red ZZ gears in my 3 cell F&F Zap. It is a little slower off the line, but I can at least do the entire quarter on a tile floor w/o spinning out. I am running the 20 foot in abot 2.3-2.4 seconds with my potentiometer cranked up. (i think it's getting about 8 mph, but I'll check on the treadmill this afternoon). Correction: I just checked it this pm, and I'm getting 7.8 mph. |
Hey, Hot Wheels track ya say? Do you mean with the side rails and stuff so you don't have to keep the car straight? I could go WICKED FAST on one of those!
|
ya. that would be a true test of power.

Dude! I found some new tires that stick really well. They look like Bit smooth tires, only like a mm or so thicker, and a 1/4 mm wider(they are flush with the outside of the rims). They came on a clone. The footprint is VERY flat which means more rubber on the ground. Before a run on the floor in the basement at work (slick), I lick my fingers and wipe the tires off. This makes 'em tacky.
My new (21 foot) 1/4 mile times are as follows for my 3cell zip zap: I use 3 standard cells, Red ZZ gearset, clone rear tires, and a clone motor that "resembles" a Tomy 2.6 from th rear and a ZZ from the front and side. (weird) Anyway, my time for 22 feet was 2.2-2.3 seconds with the body on, and 1.7-1.9 with the body off. This thing is sooo much faster with the body off, I'm going to try to shed a few on the chassis, and body some how, and see what I can do. |
got any vids?
|
Yeah, totally! But It takes me like 15 minutes to upload one onto geocities. I'm trying to build a site. I am on dial up. I wish I had cable. I don't have vid's of the simulated 1/4 mile because I don't have even 10' at home to work with. I have been doing these at work. Soon I'll bring my video cam to work and tape a 1/4 or two. I have about 3' of runway at home, but I have been video'ing my jumping.
I have never built a site before. It's been a challenge. If you use the "wizard", you have to do like flowers or stars and stripes. I just want to share my videos, man! |
get dreamweaver or something. www.download.com has several programs.

Hey pigman, I filmed 3 simulated 1/4 mile runs today using my blue ZZ gearset, and got 2.0 sec, 2.3 sec., and 1.9 seconds. With these new clone drag slicks, I have never seen it so fast. I don't have time to dink around with a website right now, can I email them to you to post for me?
By the way if anyone does get to view the vids, the time stops when the car hits the wall (OUCH!!!!). That's 20'7''. ed |
