yes, to some degree. unless you have an absolute flat surface on an absolute flat sub floor, your going to get track deviations and chatter. you can dial some of it out with suspension tweaks but the limited travel will only allow for so much. you may need to adjust your tire choice as well. stock tires are almost too much for a brand new rcp track. i'd prefer to have a tad more push to reduce spin outs and traction rolling.

Interesting. So your suffering from chatter and traction rolling with the stock motor and stock tires? Didn't expect to hear that one. How you tried both sides of the RCP track to see if the smooth side was any better? Is there any chance you still have that video you were trying to upload a few days ago. I'd be interested to see how bad your chatter is compared to mine.

I really like my dnano, but having constant chatter issues is not something I'm wanting to deal with as I learn to drive. Hopefully RCP will give his feedback on the PN front tires and his experiences with this specific issue, plus, maybe in his testing he will find some surface that helps with this problem.

I don't like blaming something for something I can control, but I've tried all Kyosho springs, stock and option, stock, atomic, and kyosho h-plates, kyosho and atomic tires, but I think as you mentioned, with the limited suspension travel and adjustability at this point, I don't think we have much control over this.

I was at PN Racing yesterday doing a bunch of dNaNo track and tire testing. PN has some new products coming out soon for the dNaNo, including tires, a damper and carbon fiber T plate. Any chattering you are experiencing on the harder surfaces should be corrected with the damper and stiffer T plate up grades.

i don't think the chatter i'm experiencing is bothersome to me. i sort of expect some measure of chatter from a box stock car on a new track over tile floor.

i am very much looking forward to trying more tire options and h plate options. in my experience, these are the 2 most important settings for my mini-z's. get those right and the rest is fine tuning.

no matter whom makes what though, unless you run the car on a dead flat surface, your going to get some handling inconsistencies. there just isn't a lot of built in tolerance for an inconsistent surface. you can tweak and setup your car in response to your track but it will never go away completely in my opinion. mini-z's are better suited for a less precise surface due to increased suspension travel. you just can't expect the same from a mini-z in a dnano.

no luck with uploading the video. i may just use youtube.

Good to hear it's not bothersome, just noticeable. Mine is one of the smoothest running cars at my LHS and it's still pretty bad.

I definitely think between the Kyosho, Atomic, and PN h-plates, tires, and dampener we should be able to get our cars handling well. Thanks for the update RCP.

HERE is my video of my gt-r on my mini-96 with banked turn and track bumps.

Your car is noisy like my son's Carrera GT. My Lambo is not that noisy. I guess I am just lucky.

They become much more quiet and smooth as the diffs wear. Probably why yours is more quiet than your son's.

Hi John,

Have you tried assembling an RCP track and running the smooth side for dNano specifically? Trust me... mucho better :)

After we ran our big track that way, I tore down my home track and flipped it too!!

arch2b 06-05-2009 08:50 AM

of all the rcp tracks i've owned (i've had many) i've run the smooth side maybe 3 times. i honestly forget the track is dual sided. i may have to change my track over just to see what it's like. all those rail pins though.....

I have little rear end chatter when I running fast an hard around a turn, but nothing too bad. I run on rcp and love it.

Sounds like same exact parts Atomic has already made for the Dnano. We're hoping to see some aluminum motor mounts, aluminum steering knuckles/arms with different camber, steering plates, wheels of various styles and colors, etc. Please talk to Philip of PN some more about these upgrades.
Would they be offering any aluminum parts in their special orange color?
