yes, but i've been in san francisco for the past 17 years.

i've been back to hk a couple times...my aunt goes back n forth and she helps me get stuff

i might be going back to visit this christmas. it's bargain time :D

pitstain 10-14-2002 07:28 PM

awesome, people don't let you bargain as much anymore.. specially the economy is super bad in HK, when i went last summer alot of people are passing out ads everywhere, and it's like 100 degrees out... well i can't wait to go back... i hope you are too, i'm planning to buy some tanks/rc engines in HK then sell them here, there's this engine my dad got me for 110 in HK, and here it sells for 170, anyways later, did you get your tank yet?

pitstain 10-14-2002 07:30 PM

and also, how old are you? you've been here 17 years(that's pretty old) but then you said you need your mom's permission to buy a tank.. hehe :D

You need to buy "N-Scale" items. Combat DigiQ is 1/144th (N-scale).

Namuna,

Thx for clarifying the scale thing. I steered Pitstain wrong in my earlier post stating that HO would be the proper scale for the tanks. HO would work for a Bit. As far as the 1\87 scale, I got that from Model Railroad Magazine.

Anyway, I'm going to build an IR decoder so I can get the proper IR signal for the tank's gun. Then I'll build an IR receiver and make some interactive scenery. I was thinking some bright red lights inside some buildings to simulate a hit with some sound FX or perhaps a bridge that could be blown up, that kinda stuff. There are even smoke generators used in model railroads that run on veggie oil that would be cool. It might stink the place up, but as they say, war is hell!

If anyone has any thoughts on the subject, I'd love to hear them.

pitstain 10-14-2002 10:26 PM

you got too advanced for me....

BillyBonz 10-14-2002 11:35 PM

Pitstain,

It's not really all that complicated. Once the IR signal from the tank's gun is decoded, it's just a matter of building a circuit the can receive that signal only. I have a few ICs that may work from some other projects I have been working on. Once there is a working module built I'll post the schematic and parts list. You can find a techie friend to help you out with the rest.

I was going to keep it simple to start and make a capture the flag kind of setup. A module placed on opposite ends of the field, the first one to shot the other guys module is the winner.

I guess my first step would be to get a tank to start with. lol
