I could drift a lil bit with the stock setup on terrazzle. You go full speed, jerk one way then jerk back the other and hold. Wait a minute, that was w/ nx motor my bad.

Yugo DSC Maxxer 09-25-2003 08:23 PM

HOLY CRAP!!!
I just put on hard Bit Racer tyres on the back, and softs in the front.
WOW! This thing drifts soooo easily with that set-up, including stock everything else.

Its also easy t pull out of them with propo.
I love this car!

The NX doesn't work well for drifting too much speed!

So dont hit the gas all the way. Remember we have propo.

Racer9 09-27-2003 08:52 AM

not enough torque I mean it works better with bred gears!. Otherwise it is too fast. It doesn't have enought torque to got full speed with red gears I guess

Lets not let this thread go away. Anyone who drifts write your setup, surface, and technique. Also, you can put video's if you have them. If you need to edit your vids you can get a free editor a microsofts website for xp. Anyway, I'll start.

Setup
Nx motor
blue gears
old style body w/ no lights
stock tires

Surface
terrazzle
wood floors
coffee table

Technique
Umm, go about 3/4's speed. Turn the way you wanna drift and hold it. Now if your back end isn't getting out(it shouldn't be, if it is start the procedure over and go slower)start feathering the throtle between 3/4 and full speed. The faster you feather the more slippage you get. When you wanna get out of the drift go down to about 1/2 throttle and center the steering.

skklown 09-28-2003 07:30 PM

here is my drift setup and how i do it.

orange 28k motor
green gears
slicks on the back
factory tires up front
mazda savannah body.

i go full speed...then i brake check (tap reverse very quickly). once the rear end starts to swing out i feather the trottle while steering the other way....creating a mad drift.

i do this on a dust wooden kitchen floor.

u can also drift if u hit a bump in the middle of a turn that causes the car to go sideways....then feather the throttle and reverse steer!

hope these help!

My setup:
Stock 'Preformance' motor, Bit Char-G hards in the rear, and stock 'Factory' tyres up front.
I just drift...I can't describe it.

Racer9 09-29-2003 03:15 PM

My new setup is

NX motor
almost any dusty tires
almost any gears
Efini Body

Almost any means speed and surface wise

BTW Green and blue gears normally cause my car to traction roll with even slightly dusty tires. So try really dusty tires.

Jtskty 09-29-2003 04:10 PM

I'm trying to drift with stock setup except I have a fandf body and it is almost impossible on my pergo track(very clean). I think I'm gonna have to buy myself a microsizer tire set knowing they are notoriously hard.

dugrant153 09-01-2004 11:13 PM

Just wanted to bring this thread back to life! :D

Anyways, so the general consensus I'm getting is that you can stick with stock by putting Bit Char G hard rear racing tires in the back and stock Zip Zap tires in the front, correct?

And are we talking power slide? or actually sideways drifting?

Racer9 09-02-2004 02:52 PM

I can do drifts with my setup. Hard MS fronts and soft rears works great for drifting.

SHIFT_DRIFT 09-04-2004 12:41 PM

I don't think you can actully hold a slide with these SE's...
But anyway, I developed a catagory for micro drifting.
It's called "Bit Drift." Since these things can't really drift, you can just Bit Drift! I also have the rules and regulations.
I gotta go dig them up in the other forum.

Anyway, heres my set.
Hard Bit racer tires on all fours.
2.8 motor
Lightened rear axle
weight up front
slick surface
and lowered AE86 Levin body.
:D

dugrant153 09-06-2004 12:06 AM

Well, I tried using tape, but this car just harsh snap oversteers and understeers. That's on linoleum kitchen flooring.

I think I'll try the hard in the rears and soft in the back.

Actually, I was looking at the Radioshack website for upgrades and there's soooo many different tires to use.

Anyone know which tires are the hardest? Is it the "sport" tires?
