In car audio applications, they use capacitors the size of two soda cans stacked on top of each other.

yup but there huge there from .5 farads to 5 farads at 12V usually you only need 1 farad caps but damn there's some pretty powerfull systems out there.

most camera flashes that i've taken apart are about 300-500V and only about 200 uF or micro farads

Just take the covers and film off a disposible camera. then just make ppl touch the circut board
