good idea
I could build a site if u want |
Born and raised in the Frankford section of the "Cradle of Liberty" otherwise known as Philadelphia.
Now residing in the far, and much cleaner, Far NE of Philly about 10 minutes from Franklin Mills Mall. I don't really mod the cars, but I can make a helluva track to test them on! |
How'd I miss this?
Born in Walson Hospital Fort Dix NJ Currently living in Atco, NJ. |
About the same time to the Mills for me.
But I usually stay away from there because of the tourists. |
Yeah but sometimes you can get some great deals in the "Mills" on clones. Only place I could find my Panthers.
|
heh cool, you guys got some mad knowledge base here... =P
pwalk, i was thinkin about makin a track.. and after lookin @ urs, (the dirt one) i wanted to make something like rally track.. any quick suggestions on the kinda stuff that can/should be used? |
I saw some Precious Clones at KOP Court Under 5 store.
|
Absolutely Pie,
First I used foam insulation for most of the track. It's easy to work with, cuts real well to just about any shape you want and at only about 1 inch thick you can adjust the grade of hills very easily therefore making it easier for a Bit to get up. For making "rocks" and "cliffs" I used to Crayola's Model Magic (cheap plug!!) It's easy to mold, sets up quickly, and best of all it doesn't crack when it dries. Also it's lightweight which is great for when your carting your course around like I have. DO NOT USE PLAY DOH! It may be cheap but it cracks and breaks all the time. For decorations you can use a variety of things depending on the setting you want the course to be set in. I use a variety of stuff from sand paper on the hills(great for traction where you need it) Deer Moss for trees and shrubs, and cinnamon for dirt (best tasting dirt I've ever tried). I can go on and on so I'll post the rest in the track section. PWalk |
i'm only 20 mins from Phili. we should really start a club.
|
ahhhh gotcha... i was thinkin about the rally setting, while actually using roads and stuff. foam insulation.. sounds good to me! :)
thx for the info dude, and i'll go check out whatever i need in the tracks area! |
No problem Pie,
For the roads I would suggest the sand paper. It's got a good look to it, provides ample traction and it takes paint really well to. Philadelphia area people... If you guys want to get something started here in the Philly area just let me know. I'm interested and starting to get tired of running my cars against just my brothers. We could do a barbeque or something and race the bits all day on a picnic table. Any thoughts?? |
Where would this meet, greet and race take place?
Pennypack Park? |
Pennypack park would be ideal for anyone in the general area, but if ya ask anyone from outside Philly and they'll have no clue.
I could see a state park in the area, Neshaminy, Ridley Creek, hell we could all meet down at the liberty bell or Independence Hall. I'm open to ideas... |
This sounds like a good excuse to make it "big" and invite some dealers in Tiny RCs.
How cool would that be? Dealers, some table space for field-modders and the like, as well as a place to race and show off our hardware. Sounds good to me! :D |
Independence Hall. Oh wait they are opening the new constitution center there this week.
Rittenhouse Square. Love Park, Also called JFK Plaza. Dilworth Plaza (15th street side of City Hall). I work in Center City Philly. |
